Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

ā€œBuilt on the Rock, the Church shall stand,
even when steeples are falling.
Crumbled have spires in every land;
bells still are chiming and calling.
Calling the young and old to rest,
calling the souls of those distressed,
longing for life everlasting.ā€ Nikolai Grundtvig

So I spent some time looking at my Notre Dame pictures tonight from my 2015 trip. It is just mind boggling to think of what is now gone, especially the stained glass. I'm glad some things were removed prior to this. I also noticed that in a picture of me in one of the bell towers there is a fire extinguisher which I hadn't ever noticed in the picture before.

Happy that you and Brad were able to see Notre Dame during your 2015 trip to Paris. I recall your TR from that vacation, and it was wonderful.

I absolutely love eating authentic food from other regions cooked by friends.
Well, you'd love all the birthday parties for my friends' kids then! My friend from Iran used to make DolmƩ, but now she usually does some sort of meat and rice dish, and (I have no idea how to spell it, so I'm going to write it phonetically) Ketchkabodemjun...it's eggplant and zucchini with some sort of cream or yogurt that you eat on bread. She also made these potato and sausage rolls one time that were amazing!!
My Mexican friends usually do Tortilla soup, and then also some sort of rice dish. The thing I love that they taught me to make is tostadas. That's our family favorite. (Except DS) SO good.
And my friend from Sri Lanka moved to Germany, but when she lived here, she would make...I think it was called Hal? Or Dal? It was something with Lentils and maybe coconut milk. That's one I never took the time to do at home because it takes forever, so I don't remember what goes in it.

My Iranian friend's daughter's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. Want to come with me to the party?

I just wonder how many artifacts/paintings/etc. are lost.
They said on the news here that all of the really valuable artwork and artifacts and such were able to be removed safely last night. So apparently nothing like that was lost. And the structure still stands, but the roof is gone. President Macron said there will be an international fund raising to rebuild, and the news reporter said a wealthy Frenchman has already pledged 100Mil, so it will be rebuilt.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Bernard Arnault has also pledged ā‚¬200 million ($226 mill USD), in addition to Pinaultā€™s ā‚¬100 million pledge.

Iā€™m not extremely religious but the mind definitely goes to ā€œdivine interventionā€.

This whole situation just seems so surreal. Though considering what could have been the fate of that marvelous building, it is relieving that so much was saved / unharmed.

A scary stumble but not a fall.

I was watching the national news tonight, and apparently they could not find the location of the fire for 23 minutes. Can't even imagine what it must be like dealing with such an old structure like that--goodness knows what's in the walls, etc.

Last night I heard that the French firemen all come out of the military, so they have good teamwork skills, etc., and are in good shape for this demanding field of work. Heard they did a great job rescuing artifacts, etc. as well.
