Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I wonder, has anyone tried to grow one in the north or did they just think that they would only grow in the south?
I used to know a really rich guy who had a cottage in Turkey Point. Every two years or so, he would replace the palm tree on his front lawn.

So, I guess technically they can grow, but not thrive in cooler climates.

Next time you're in Florida, kidnap a baby palm into your trunk and see if it will grow up north. There's a shinny new nickel in it for you, providing that @PUSH can spare it. 😉:)
lol
We have a couple of hibiscus plants on the side of the house that the previous owners grew from seeds that they "confiscated" from a hotel in FL. We've been here for 36 years, and those plants have bloomed every year, so I guess they've adjusted.

There was a Days Inn up the road which attempted to place several palm trees near their front signage when new owners took over years ago. Because...when visitors come to the southern Appalachians, what they expect to be greeted with are palm trees. :cautious:

Anyhow, they didn't last thru their first Christmas.

They actually sell them in Florida. We got one from a friend in December and it seems to be doing ok. It’s tiny though.
Years and years ago, on the Arthur Godfrey radio show he pushed a small log like thing imported from Hawaii. It was about 1 inch in diameter and about 4 inches long. Looked like a cut up small branch of a tree. Anyway, it promised to grow into a miniature palm tree from Hawaii. It was quite a fad for a short time and almost everyone's never did anything but remain a tiny log, however, my mothers branched out and produced two tiny indoor palm trees that she managed to keep alive for at least 30 years. I don't remember what they called it. The only thing that comes to mind is a Tiki Tree, but, I might be confusing that with the Tiki Room. End of story.

That is an excellent story! Love it.

Waving hi this morning to @Eric1955 . Anything new or interesting happening in your neck of the woods lately? (Then again, it would be hard to top discovering a Dole Pineapple Whip location, well beyond the borders of WDW!) ;)

Easter is April 21, so I assume your church will have some nice get-togethers with parishoners around the holiday. Back when you lived in Florida, your church hosted some tasty meal events (at various times during the year). So, I'm thinking that maybe some similar activities might take place at your present church.

Well, right now I’m working on getting accepted to X-ray school. Last week I did hospital observations, and next Wednesday is my interview. I’m a little worried because they don’t accept a lot of students. I’m not sure what my next step would be if I’m not accepted into this program. I’m still thinking that through.

We meet at my church every Wednesday night for dinner and then Bible study. I always enjoy that. We will be having special services at church for Holy Week. I’m sure they will be very nice. It’s just not quite the same as my church back in Florida. It really felt like home there. I’m hoping to make a trip down there soon. I’m just waiting till after my interview before I make definite plans.

So are you studying radiology? Or are you only doing x-rays? I didn't know that you could just concentrate on one area.

Maybe you have to start with x-rays and then specialize. I’m pretty sure that’s how it works here.

What Jennifer said. The radiology program is two years and would qualify me to be an X-ray technician. I can then go on for an additional year of school to specialize in things like MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, etc. I haven’t decided what I would like to specialize in yet.
