Oh I have gotten a lot better with age....I never used to even be able to eat a cheeseburger....just the hamburger on a bun. For me, a lot of it is texture, too...I don't like cheese or butter unless melted. Butter is too slimy, and cheese is too....I don't know....squeaky? But the smell of mustard nauseates me, and the smell of ketchup or mayo makes me gag...I just can't even stand the smell, so there's no way I'm putting it in my mouth. Zucchini is one that I HATED as a kid, and now it's one of my favorites. So I HAVE gotten less picky, but there limits. I actually like Rice Cakes....my husband calls them styrofoam cookies.I always felt that a lot of those food No-No's develop when we were kids. As kids our taste-buds, in my opinion were not highly developed. Sour seemed more sour, sweet more sweet and bitter more bitter. That sad thing is that we carry that taste memory in our brains even when we are adults and prevent us from trying things that we once thought were awful.
@Songbird76 stated that she would only put lettuce on a hamburg and nothing else. If I had to confine it to just that I'd never eat another hamburg (and I like lettuce). I tried many things that I just couldn't stand when I was a kid, things like olives, black or green. After I allowed myself to reevaluate I found them to be something I really like. I have a granddaughter that would only eat pasta plain. Nothing on it at all. She finally tried it with sauce and decided that wasn't half bad. She still loves pancakes with nothing on them at all. It all seems petty boring (and dry) to me. Why even bother... chew on a piece of cardboard and get the same satisfaction. I firmly believe that very attitude is what created the development of Rice Cakes. Throw them away and eat the box.
My son in law will not eat a salad or anything that might be considered a vegetable (unless it is in a soup, then he will eat nail heads if they were in there) Won't touch an egg or mayo or anything with egg or mayo in it, unless he doesn't know it's there then he loves it. He will soon be 55 years old. People's are funny!
Somethings I won't eat are not because of taste, because I have never tasted them, but, the texture and slime quotient is to high. Things like snail, oysters, clams, calamari, or eel. I did eat alligator once (tastes like chicken) and if anyone were to serve snake there would be an abundance of left overs.
Hrmmm....someone likes that Laughing gas a little too much!Party time!!!
I have an unexpected 5-day long weekend coming up, and I get to kick it off with an 11:00 am dental cleaning and check up.
So that’s fun, right?
note to self: make an appointment with @MinnieM123' s dentist.
Actually mustard can be used to induce vomiting, so I can understand why it might make you nauseated. Ketchup or Mayo I can't explain. Zucchini, is ok as a bread, just to eat it just seems tasteless to me, so why bother. Actually Squash in any form is not on my list of must haves. Liver is another. Part of that is that I know what it functioned as at some point in its life. However, I love liverwurst. Just had some for lunch today. (with mustard and onions) Bad breath but I'm by myself so I really am not offended.Oh I have gotten a lot better with age....I never used to even be able to eat a cheeseburger....just the hamburger on a bun. No - too much to do! But I'm really excited for the premiere of Better Call Saul on Monday night.Anyone else planning to see Christopher Robin this weekend?
Tammy and I are planning to go tomorrow. No - too much to do! But I'm really excited for the premiere of Better Call Saul on Monday night.
I went to Boldt Castle in 1958. I was 10 years old. The castle was left just the way it was when George Boldt's wife passed away. Crated boxes containing fireplace mantles, parts to a grand staircase and thousands of other things, but, all it was was a shell of unfinished spookiness. As a 10 year old I was truly taken by the abandoned (not quite) castle and the reason why it was never finished and a story that only got to the middle of the book before they closed the cover. It was not haunted, but, it was haunting, at least to me. I have never been back, but, I think I saw where they went in and finished, at least part of it, to what was originally planned. I'm sure it looks great, but, the symbolism of a heart breaking loss and the remnants just left to rot because it's purpose no longer existed was, to me, much more emotionally grabbing then any finished product could ever convey. Kinda like the Titanic Story, but, without shoving someone off a door.Tammy and I are planning to go tomorrow.
Still owe the niece and nephew a trip to Hotel Transylvania. Maybe I should Google showtimes for that tonight.
Just checked out trips to Gananoque. Not worth it if we’re not spending the night. 4 1/2 hours there. 4 1/2 hours back. And 5 hours on the boat out to Boldt Castle.
That’s a really long day for something that doesn’t include Billy Joel or Mickey Mouse.

We haven’t been in two years, although we’ve been four times in total. A little more is completed each year.I went to Boldt Castle in 1958. I was 10 years old. I have mad negotiating skills. I could teach you.Probably next week sometime, might have to go by myself. The husband says he doesn’t want to see it.
