Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Have a great time tomorrow @MinnieM123 . You can have my share of lobster (but not my ice cream!),

Thanks! Looks like a gorgeous day out today, too--no humidity.

I won't have your ice cream, because I'm looking forward to the restaurant's Maine Wild Blueberry Cobbler--it's no secret--I LOVE blueberry desserts! (P.S.: I "might" get a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top though, over the heated dessert . . . :hungry: :hungry: But, it's only one scoop, so there will still be plenty of ice cream left for you!) ;)

I am toying with the idea of next summer doing a family vacation that combines Maine...Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park......then after 2 or 3 days continuing on to Halifax Nova Scotia. Anybody been to any of those spots? Any feedback please? Thank you.

You can't go wrong with any of the seacoast in Maine--Bar Harbor is very nice.

Acadia also receives very good reviews, but we've never been there. Down through the years, hubs and I have always gone off the beaten path, and have spent a good deal of time up in northern Maine/Canadian border areas, way beyond the tourist areas. We've enjoyed hiking in the remote forests and logging areas. So I can't offer any tips on Acadia -- only what I've heard down through the years, that it's a wonderful state park. Sounds like it would be nice choice for a family vacation.

We did Nova Scotia 2 years ago - Halifax is pretty (don't miss the Titanic cemetery) but if you're going up that way you should definitely do Cape Breton Island and the Cabot Trail. There are some pictures I took in this thread on page 1343
Thank you. :) I need to cut the grass before the sun gets hot. I'll gladly check it out later today ;)

And a reminder to @SteveBrickNJ , if you do go to Nova Scotia, bring passports for all in your family. (I only say this, because so many of us from the New England area recall past trips to Canada--various provinces--when all we needed was a driver's license, to and from the borders.)

I just tried to load that page that I linked to and couldn't load the photos - probably they were on my photobucket account, which no longer works. I'll see if I can redo it.

Update: Didn't find them on photobucket, but they might be on my desktop at home - I should be back there sometime next week. Meanwhile here's a few I found on an album here:

Back from a great day on Cabot Trail today. It started out rainy and foggy, and I was really hesitant about us going since we figured we wouldn't see much today. But we're heading back to New Brunswick tomorrow, so this was our only chance, so we went anyway. It was pretty dismal for the first part of the day, but the drive is just so gorgeous, we were glad we did go.

It was foggy for the first couple of hours, so we didn't take any pictures, even though the fog really gave everything a mystical look. We went on and into Cape Breton National Park. Cabot Trail goes through the park along some pretty crazy winding roads. Anyway, we took a wrong turn at one point and realized it right away, but the road was too narrow to turn around right away so we continued on it for a while, where we came upon this:

It's a juvenile bald eagle, and there were actually 2 of them just soaring over us, They were so cool!

I was so excited to see (and hear) them - so we decided it wasn't a "wrong" turn after all. I mentioned to DH that it would be neat if we saw an adult eagle that close too, and he agreed.

So, we went back to the "right" road and drove on and eventually the sun came out. We pulled over at several lookout points and snapped a few pictures (I'll post them later), and then came to this one, right on the edge of a cliff. As we were admiring the view of the rocks and sea below, all of a sudden we spotted this:

He flew around right at our eye level for a few minutes then soared higher and higher. It was just breath-taking!

I also saw an Eagle sitting along the side shoulder of a road. This was in Alaska about 2 weeks ago. I will try to post the photo if I can.20180702_120750-1.jpg
