Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Yes, when there is a 2 hour delay the staff also starts two hours later. Usually we just start the day picking up whenever the normal schedule would be at that time, so today we should start with the 3rd period class. One time though our principal had us do the full schedule with shortened morning classes until lunch and then back to full length classes in the afternoon.

Wow 109 degrees in a classroom! Yuck, I have had 90 in my room in the spring before and it is hard to function.
Yeah, I'm amazed they didn't all have heat stroke. WAY too hot in there. It might not have been as bad in the classrooms that don't face the sun, but DD's classroom was right there. At home, DD's room faces the sun and it's miserable in the Summer. We keep her drapes closed so it doesn't heat up quite as much, but if we're having a heatwave, her room is an oven....she'll go downstairs to sleep where it's at least a couple of degrees cooler, and we each have a fan for our rooms. It's not ideal, but better than nothing...but our school director is just....he doesn't really seem to care about the well-being of most of the kids. The way the bullying was(n't) handled at the school, the lack of adjusting to weather situations...he just doesn't seem to be bothered with making changes if it inconveniences him. At least it doesn't usually get as hot as it did that Summer, and if it does, it's not for long. That year was just extreme.

Curious--did you both get a flu shot this year? For some, it definitely does help and/or even just lesson the symptoms.

Oddly enough, when I had those 2 colds recently, I had thought I was running a fever because my head felt hot. But any time I'd take my temperature it always was low. Go figure. Anyway, just passing that along for what it's worth. (Doc told me that even bad colds usually don't present with a fever, as they're mostly viral, and not bacterial. That's why a fever might be more associated with a flu.)
No flu shot for either of us - not a fan of the medical community in general. I definitely have it worse than DH (whose birthday is today...) with fever and chills.

Sorry to hear you're both battling an illness, and it doesn't sound like this is a short-term bug you both caught.

However, I did make you some homemade chicken soup. It has chicken in it. And there are cupcakes for dessert.

DH had to fly up here last week to figure out what critter had invaded our house (A squirrel) then fly back down to FL, so we suspect he caught something on the plane. It took a few days to develop, and being stuck in the cold for a cople of days last week with no power sure didn't help.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I bought these this morning, and Hallelujah, the box made it home unmolested. Mainly because I put them in the back seat where I could not reach them.

Funny thing is, despite the various shapes, they each taste IDENTICAL. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t a pecking order though. :hilarious:

Sadly, I have now eaten four of them and feel a little sick. Ski to the rescue. He’s due to get “the munchies” anytime now.

Looks good. I like the pistachio ones better than the walnut. Our local Turkish shop used to sell all different kinds and there were some that were a really weird texture and we didn't like those, but they stopped selling them separately. Now you have to buy them prepackaged and they tripled or quadrupled the price. No more Baklava for us. :arghh: Enjoy some for me, please!

Woke up cold to the bone and dry heaving - I've had enough!

Stay in bed and have a water bottle there as well--drinking fluids will help to flush out the toxins. Soup is also good during the day.

I just got in from shoveling the front steps -- we got 6-7 inches of heavy, wet snow and it''s still coming down. Will take too long for hubs and me to dig out the car (huge snow boulders at end of driveway form the plows and they're still coming around.) Taking a bus whenever it shows up this morning--in weather like this, it's my best bet. I don't mind the snow. (I only mind ice storms, but this is all snow.) It's very pretty outside!
