Very nice!
My mom and sister were in town this weekend to help me move into a new apartment. I've mostly settled in now and my retro tree is now up. Still needs a skirt and I think a little more tinsel.

Beautiful! I love the red wall behind it--looks like Christmas at your house!

Lovely tree, the tinsel makes me think of my mom. She loved tinsel on the tree, the more the better.

That would be me as well. It's just so barren looking without tinsel.Lovely tree, the tinsel makes me think of my mom. She loved tinsel on the tree, the more the better.

I don't put up a tree anymore since no one ever comes over here during the season and it's ends up being a lot of work for nothing. When I did put up trees, lights, lots and lots of lights, were necessary. It was a real drag when we had those one light burns out they all go dark days. Tinsel and lots of lights. When we were kids one year would be multi-colored lights and the next year my father insisted on all blue. I always made a big fuss about that when I was a kid, but, deep down I really liked the look of it. When I grew up and the kids were gone, my trees were blue light almost every year.I enjoy the retro look of tinsel.
However, over the past 15 years or so, I've been trying new ideas with my tree. Been getting into ribbons and bows the past few years. I'll see how it comes out this time--always a gamble to try something new!
But I'm not nearly as bad as my eldest brother. He likes a very plain tree, and puts on a few lights only. My sister gave him a hard time one year about that, so (out of spite . . .) , he threw a sock against the tree and it stuck there on a branch. She freaked, but he would not let her touch it--it was his decorating STATEMENT.

Yeah, what she said.I think you should have a tree just for you. Why not? Why do you need company to have a tree in your house? I think if I was starving and destitute, and had no one in the world, I'd still find myself a little tree (even a Charlie Brown tree) and put something nice on it (or I'd make some sort of ornament from things I'd find, if I didn't have the money to buy some). Christmas can be one person, or a group of people.![]()
I have a small one that I can and usually do put up, but, with my current sciatica issue I cannot bring it in from the garage without a lot of effort and for what purpose... I would look at it a couple of times during the season and put it back in the box on the 1st of January. Not worth the effort.I think you should have a tree just for you. Why not?
