Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Get a mulching lawn mower or just use the one you have and run over them a few times. They will break up into little pieces and float down into the soil, decay and become lawn fertilizer and creator of more soil. I've never understood why people work so hard to get rid of natural lawn fertilizer and then run out and buy more.
I have heard this before. It has been my observation that leaves do not float down into the soil....even if they are chopped up smaller. Rain after rain can soak the leaves...a foot and a half of snow can press down on the leaves for three months....but in April the darn things look exactly the same. I like Scott's fertilizer and I can't believe that mulched up leaves would produce the same nice green lawn.

That is the by product of instant gratification. Nature doesn't work on our time table, it has it's own. In the fall they will not have time to "sink in" and in the winter, just like the reason we own freezers, nothing decomposes, it is held in suspended animation. However, by late Spring or early summer none of those remnants are to be seen again. They have decayed, just like in a mulch pile and become part of the earths surface. Haven't you ever wondered how there got to be layers of soil over many years. How when you dig down you find definable layers of soil. That is how nature works. Give it the time and it will be self supporting. You can still add the chemicals that are part of Scott's to help feed the lawn, but, you will not need as much of it. Not chopping them up can cause a protective layer that will temporarily kill off plant life, but. in small pieces they will only do good.

Hemorrhaging money over the past 4 days, attempting to knock out a bunch of Christmas gifts--from little stores, big stores, and online. And even with all that effort, I'm only halfway there . . .

I always do a little bit of shopping throughout the year but the majority of my Christmas shopping was done this weekend. Most of it was done online, and a lot of it through Etsy shops. I have a couple small things to get and I have to order my dad his Omaha steaks but it will be nice to not do so much shopping the rest of the season.
