Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I went up in a 4-seater once with grad school friends across the bay and toward the coast. One person fainted and then started barfing, so the pilot dropped her off at the Easton MD airport to be picked up by a friend. My pilot friend didn't tell me until many years later that he had gotten confused between the two nearby airports - he had been cleared to land at the Cambridge MD airport, not the Easton one.

It happens sometimes, especially if the airports are fairly close.

My Dad has been mentioning that he's wanted to find time to go see a new Noah's Ark exhibit that opened up in Kentucky recently. He's just never had time to get up there since it opened a year or so ago. I looked the place up online awhile back, and saw that it was only 3.5 hours (give or take) from his house. Hmmm...possibilities. Given that he recently turned 70, and we've been giving him a celebratory birthday week (70 is a big milestone, worthy of a Birthweek, not a Birthday), I figured why not use this opportune time to give him a......

......Surprise Road trip!!

Yes, he was quite surprised when he figured out what was going on, and that I wasn't spending my off day to take him on some "random errand", which was the decoy excuse for why I needed him to keep yesterday free, and hop in my car early yesterday morning. He became sorta suspicious the further north in Tennessee we drove along I-75, but when I crossed the border into Kentucky, he knew by then that his festive week of birthday surprises had not yet concluded.

Stopped first at the Kentucky welcome center. Here's Dad a few moments after figuring out the mystery of where we were headed.

This is amazing!! What a nice surprise for your dad, and I'm sure he appreciated the effort. That's a sweet picture of him waving hi, in front of the welcome center.

Never heard of this ark attraction before. I wonder how they got the specs to build it. How has it been received by the public? Curious as to whether it's a big tourist attraction, or a minor one. Anyway, really enjoyed your photos.

It wasn't too overly crowded yesterday when we went, but that was a chilly, rainy Monday. I'm sure during summer or holidays it gets pretty busy, considering it's less than an hour from the Cincinnati area. Dad heard about the attraction months before it even opened, and kept saying how he'd like to go up there. Other things / chores would always get in the way though. It worked out great yesterday being such close proximity to his birthday, and getting to explore the place on a calm, slow day.
