Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Today is Billy Graham’s 99th birthday. Say what you want about some of the other evangelists, but there has never been a whiff of scandal attached to this Godly man. His book, Just as I Am surely ranks in my top 5 non fiction books.

There aren't enough Like buttons for this. There'll never be enough Like buttons for this. What a special night that was.

All Jays’ fans know this of course, but for those who don’t, this just demonstrates what a classy guy Halladay was, and how much the Organization respected him. In 2013, Halladay signed a one day contract, so that he could retire as a Jay, the team that initially signed him.

During a decade plus of abysmal team performances, he was one of the few shining lights ... the only reason to purchase over-priced tickets and make the trek to TO.

The list of famous people killed in small plane crashes is ridiculously long - imagine home many other non-famous people also suffered that fate. It’s just so sad. I hate those small planes.
I went up in a 4-seater once with grad school friends across the bay and toward the coast. One person fainted and then started barfing, so the pilot dropped her off at the Easton MD airport to be picked up by a friend. My pilot friend didn't tell me until many years later that he had gotten confused between the two nearby airports - he had been cleared to land at the Cambridge MD airport, not the Easton one.

My very first flight was also in a 4-seater, with the boss’ then husband. I wasn’t smart enough to know that I should have been scared.

I did fret a bit taking a Liat island-hopper a year later. Duct tape on the wings, live chickens in the cabin. My travelling companion did her best to convince me that Liat was better than BWIA, which the locals called “Better Walk If Able”.

2 of my brothers have their pilot's licence and one of my nephews is an avid pilot. My older brother took us up in his plane once and I kissed the ground when we landed. He used to fly it frequently from PA to RI, but once he moved to FL he never flew it again. For the longest time, he had stored the wings in my mom's garage, which my kids found pretty funny for whatever reason.

My boss’ then husband used to have a partially assembled plane in their basement. I’m not sure if he ever did get that thing airborne.

He worked for de Havilland Aircraft Canada, assembling planes for decades, so it’s not like he didn’t know what he was doing. I just think he couldn’t be bothered spending his weekends doing what he did all week.

@Batman ...I enjoyed your posts with many photos re. (Noah's) Ark Encounter.

Such a coincidence that this morning one of my students told me that over the weekend they ate at "The Ark". It's a restaurant in Pt. Pleasant Beach NJ.
I jokingly asked the student: "Did you see Noah there?"
Kid's response: "Huh?"
Other 2 kids in the room: :confused:o_O
One student spoke up: "Noah....is he the owner?"

Sigh :(
............................public school..........I don't dare explain............I said "no...never mind".....I redirected them to learning music.
