I've moved multiple times, and it forces you to dump stuff, because it's too much effort to take all the carp with you. Can't even imagine all the barrels full of stuff I've chucked over the years--and in all honesty--I don't miss ANY of it. Can't even recall what the heck I threw out!! :p And for the record, I'm not a pack rat all, but I thnk everyone keeps a certain amount of "stuff" assuming you'll use it again at some point.

At one time, before children, I used to dabble in crafts, so I had saved all kinds of this-and-that stuff, thinking I'd use them for something. Then once things got put away it was "out of sight, out of mind", so they've been sitting in the crawl spaces for a couple of decades.

Yah, I understand that. And I'm sure a lot of that is in good condition, and you hate to throw out good stuff. What I will say is that once you get rid of a pile of things, it's a great feeling--like you're "free" and not weighed down with all these extra things. When possible, I also tried to donate some things to Goodwill, etc. That helped ease any of the guilt about chucking stuff.
