I went to DC for the time a couple years ago and loved it. I would never ever drive though. Last year, we took a shuttle from BWI to DC and it took us through Downtown and thought I was going to die
You learn to drive in it. I now have a serious case of road rage. You have to learn how to cut people off without killing anyone. Otherwise, you'll just sit in one spot and never move. It's terrifying at first though.

What is it about them that you do not trust?

You call them, they don't call you.
Leave a message, they still don't call you.
Have an interview and them tell them it was horrible, they take it like a personal rejection.
Don't even call you when they have jobs you want.
Don''t even try to place you in anything.
Going for an interview with them for a 'phantom job'. Just to get you in the door.
Your qualified for jobs they have and you call them but they don't do anything.

If there is one thing I hate the most, it's not calling someone back.

This last winter is what really got us thinking about moving. That and the traffic and cost of living. Charlotte is about an 8 hour drive from Disney. That's not too bad. :)

Yeah, last winter was horrid, between the extreme cold and snow every two or three days and I'd be out of here in a heartbeat if we could at this point. I have not driven to Disney since high school, just too far.

True. Where we live, it's hard to avoid the highway to get most places. That's great that you can avoid traffic, it can be such a mess most days.
It's actually out of my way to take highways most of the time. The first year that I had my driver's license, I avoided them entirely when I was by myself. I usually hit a little bit of traffic on my way to school, but it's because I have to go over Light Rail tracks near a busy stop. Other than that, it's all back roads. Unless it snows. Then I have to take the Beltway if I'm going over to our newer campus. Then it takes me 40 minutes instead of 30. Usually the only way I have to take a highway is to get down to the city, to avoid a busy road, or if I need to get far away from where I live.

Interesting. They obviously place people, the good ones make a good living at it, they work on straight finders fees from the companies they send candidates to.

Have you applied to do professional temp work? Get some experience and network?

Yeah, the winters here have been bad. My parents were in WDW in January and I was home by myself. I got snowed in. I had a sprained ankle and could not shovel. They ended up having to call a service so that I could leave the house. A few weeks before that, I was in WDW with my bff and the pipes froze here at home, so they were evidently borrowing my shower. I had professors this past semester who cancelled entire assignments just because there was no more time for them. Besides Florida, the other state I would consider is South Carolina since I have relatives there. I have friends who live in Florida. I'd like to work for Disney. We'll see. :)

I remember that. Oy. Seems like just yesterday and yet it is fast approaching again.

Disney is a funny funny thing. My DS was very lucky when he was placed in his CP. He knew he wanted to go back and was at the right place, right time and had met some people that were willing to send him down a different path. It is hard to flip out of that entry level arena without networking and having something different to bring to the table to make you stand out for a real career. He thought long and hard to toss his hat into a Hawaii position 9 months ago....he didn't.

Hawaii...that is one place where I would absolutely never want to live.

Hawaii is a big professional step and one hard to get yourself out of when you are there. And then there is the girlfriend, that would likely be a fatal long term distance thing.
I wouldn't want to live out there just because of how far out it is. We're used to being able to go down to the city and seeing a baseball game, football game, concert, Broadway Across America show, being two hours by plane from WDW and just overall having a lot to do. Hawaii, you've got Honolulu, but it's a five hour plane ride back to the mainland, and Honolulu isn't a big city.

Plus, for me, my allergies are worse out there than they ever were back here. The first time I was there, I stepped off the plane and passed a Lei cart. My face turned bright red and I started wheezing. Ten minutes on that rock and I had already had an allergy attack. The second trip, my allergies were so bad that I nearly grounded the plane. I just said to my mom, "Please just get me off this rock." Two days after we got home I landed myself in the ER because my body still wasn't happy about it. Next allergist appointment, I'm going to have to ask him for some strong stuff. I'm thinking there's a chance that he might tell me that I can't go. But we'll see.

You ever get that feeling that you are turning into one of your parents? I came into my brother's room to make sure that he was still alive. I figured he was probably feeling grouchy since he had gone up and shut the door and didn't even want to come down to watch the game with me. My mom called and asked me to check on him and let him know they'd be home in around 30 minutes or so. I knocked and when I got no response, I went in. He immediately told me to go away. And then tried to push me out the door. The conversation I had with him then was very reminiscent of the conversations I used to have with my mother when I would give her lip. I sounded exactly like my mother. I think I should be very afraid...

Yeah, allergies are odd things. That is the worst my DD ever crashed was when she did WDW cherry blossoms, WDW Spring Break and then our Spring in less than a month. Wasn't pretty.

Another one! :banghead: That's you and StarWarsGirl--the two of you!

I'll bet Fred Flintstone didn't need to parallel park back in Caveman days--remember his car? The movement was him running!! :p

We all have our strengths and weaknesses. ;) I can parallel park and do some pretty decent architectural design. But, for example, unlike @Cesar R M and @unkadug, I can't "electronic" my way through a wet, generic, Disney Parks napkin...
It's all good...!!! :)
