Very good. We are actually getting ready to sell our house, and it looks like we may be moving to Charlotte. My husband has a job opportunity there. I lived in Charlotte for a year after my first marriage ended (long story), and I really like it there. Maryland has never really felt like home. I grew up in Ohio, and I'm very comfortable in the Midwest. Everyone in Charlotte moved from the Midwest to escape the weather, so I fit in well there. :)

I have friends from here that just moved to Charlotte, weather. My Sister went to college in Ohio and returned again for Law School, never came back. My next door neighbor just moved back to Sandusky. If I were to move it would be Charlotte over Ohio and Florida over Charlotte.

Perhaps its still part of a standardized tests? just in case I mean.

Maybe. I'm sure they are taught here to reverse, for emergency but parallel parking a bus I can't wrap my brain around it. Our buses for elementary go in a line one after the next. In high school they go into their own spots pulling in and pulling straight out. But I guess the license is not limited to School Law, still I've never seen a bus anywhere parallel park around these parts.

When I finally moved to NC from Vermont, I had my doubts. I spent my whole life up north, all 62 years of it at that time. Know what... best thing I ever did. I have no desire to ever move back north again. Jobs are hard to get, pay is low and housing is almost like going to a Disney Resort Hotel. Way, way over priced!

My eldest brother also moved to NC about 6 years ago. He likes it down there and said the winters are mild, compared to MA. Glad he's happy. I like winter, so I'm o.k. right where I am!

I'm sure you've enjoyed the great barbecue meals down there; my brother lives in barbecue heaven. I visited him a few years ago down there, and we went to a local barbecue restaurant, a nice little, informal place. Wow. Best barbecue chicken I ever had in my life!

I love to cook when I have adequate time. I baked pumpkin squares this week and they turned out pretty darn good but pastries of any kind are not my thing. My DD on the other hand can do sweets, she bakes some mean cookies. Her cranberry and white chocolate chip cookies are awesome.

Cranberry and white chocolate chip cookies??!!! :hungry: :hungry: Oh, those sound heavenly! I might even look up a recipe this weekend!

Depends on the area where you live. I take all backroads and rarely hit traffic, which is nice. I did this afternoon though, making at 25 minute commute 45 minutes. So not too bad.

Back roads are my pals, too. The only time I drive is just on the weekends, and I never go on the highway. I go out early in the morning and use the quieter back roads. I can even poke along and enjoy the sights, because there's practically no traffic out early on a weekend morning. Also, I've spent a fair amount of time on Google Maps to find routes that fit my no traffic/no peeps criteria! HA! :cat:

Wooba, will be sending you some good Karma next week.

My DD has made it through the mega test, round one of interview and 2nd interview next week. The guy today said to her....I graduated from the University of Illinois too...she is thinking that connection got her to round one and round two.

This job stuff is so dang stressful.

I grew up in the same town as one of my interviewers so that doesn't work

You call them, they don't call you.
Leave a message, they still don't call you.
Have an interview and them tell them it was horrible, they take it like a personal rejection.
Don't even call you when they have jobs you want.
Don''t even try to place you in anything.
Going for an interview with them for a 'phantom job'. Just to get you in the door.
Your qualified for jobs they have and you call them but they don't do anything.

If there is one thing I hate the most, it's not calling someone back.

I'm currently signed up with THREE professional temp agencies.

I'd agree with all of this, and I'd also add that they try to send you to interviews for $$$$ you didn't agree upon...for instance, I cannot...cannot live on $12 an hour. That would barely pay my rent. Yet temp agency #1 sent me to one interview that paid $10 an hour, even though, during my first meeting with them, I specifically stated and laid out my salary requirements. Temp agency #2 tried placing me at a consignment store for $9 an hour. Same thing.

I know beggars can't be choosers, but I am not going to take a job that would require me to get a second job immediately JUST to pay my rent and bills.... Let alone buy necessities like dog food and ya know, human food.

Really makes me angry.

Agency number three I've played phone tag with so much that it's pointless to try and call back. No matter what time it is, they aren't available or are in "meetings" or "out to lunch" even at 10 am.

Rant over. I need a drink.

I love this. No, really...I love this. And this is exactly why I just can't wait (to be keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeng) to buy my own house. If there are steps out front, they are getting the mosaic touch. Ditto at least one wall inside, probably kitchen backsplashes. It simply needs to happen. Every time I see mosaic murals or even a little patch, it makes me smile from ear to ear. That's the happiness I require in my home. :)

28 days until Halloween. :)

Stop reminding me, lol :) in the "craft" business, this is the beginning of the busiest, most stressful, hectic time of the year. Autumn, Halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas are NUTS.

For example, today I have my work cut out for me. Literally.

And this is only for the craft show I have tomorrow at a local high school (that has a huge following...last time I did this show I sold everything on my table and actually left early.$600, five hours) and this is only round one. There are five big cats, five big dogs, six small cats, and six mice all cut out and ready for glueing and sewing. Final touches are stuffing and paint jobs. After this I have plans on another dozen of each, and there's a chance I'm not sleeping tonight to make sure they all get done.

I've already had three cups of coffee and have been up cutting since 5 am.

Pardon any spelling errors or wrong word switches, I give up on trying to correct autocorrect s stupid mistakes.

The other thing she does is melt white chocolate and then rolls fresh cranberries through the melted chocolate and puts them on wax paper to set. You can do individual cranberries or clusters. When you get a bag of fresh cranberries, wash them and then look for any berries that are not firm, the good ones will actually bounce a bit.

Hope someone else is going to do the driving for you on Route 66. It isn't peaceful on some of those stretches.

I'm sorry. :( So glad you have three interviews next week. You genuinely are stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. Remember there are places that will help with some of the things you can't afford. Many animal welfare groups will help owners fallen on hard time. I've volunteered at a few and donated to them over time. They will help with meds, food etc. Their thought process is they don't want these animals to wind up in shelters because of hard times that will eventually end. Two jobs is hard, understatement, I get that, I've done it and had to do it for several years in a row when I was younger. The worst part is the lack of sleep. I really hope the Federal Minimum wage gets boosted up not only for those folks in that predicament but it should also push up the wages above that.

I love this. No, really...I love this. And this is exactly why I just can't wait (to be keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeng) to buy my own house. If there are steps out front, they are getting the mosaic touch. You and me both, I loved the photo's @donaldtoo posted while they were volunteering for this project. So much of my house inside and out is my handy work that I could not afford to have someone else do but I did myself over the years. It is so rewarding and makes me smile. Just be careful, I fell painting my kitchen in a retro way and smooshed the heck out of my foot.

Ha! I've had some real funny autocorrects this week.

A lady I know through my DS/her DD, started out a few years ago as a crafter. She then started a business as an organizer of craft shows. She is really good at not duplicating vendors, not allowing home party sellers. Her shows now have about 300 vendors per show coming from around 8 states. I can see you having a business like this sometime in your life. You have talent plus you also seem to have a discriminating eye from what is solid crafting and what is not. Such a fine line from amazing to tacky and you know the difference. Good luck tomorrow and hope you don't get blisters from all that cutting.
