When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Coming to you direct from the 'bullseye' of this storm... Manchester, Maryland (about 45 minutes northwest of Baltimore) has 17 inches of snow on the ground and another 4-6 projected the rest of today. Right now there is a little sleet mixed in which should keep us below 2 feet. Hopefully.

But it's so pretty!

Just got a sad phone call from my aunt. Her son-in-law (my cousin's 51 year husband) has been told by his docs to say his final good-byes.

He has been battling cancer for the past year and a half, but was really hoping to make it until July, for the birth of his first grandchild.

I'm not sure if I can go see him. I've been told that he looks exactly like my dad - bald, snow white beard, and 130 lbs. I saw him last in the summer. That's how I want to remember him.

So very sad to hear. Prayers to him, you, and all of your family.
It might be very hard to do, but, if it were me and I knew it would help comfort him to see me one last time, I'd go.

The plows somehow shoved a frozen boulder of snow under my car and it froze to the ground. I had to climb under with a pitchfork just to break it so I could pull out.

I'll take one of those for lunch too. It's just a little out of the way. ;)
Even I'm having trouble getting around what the plows left behind. Big chunks as high as my bumper blocking the road from the last go around in the plows.

Might be a bit too hard to get to Long Island.

Ooo. Multi quote button! Neat!

It's a cousin's husband, that I used to see a couple of times a year, but for the past 10 years, I have only seen him at weddings, funerals and once at the grocery store.

Had a long chat with my aunt this morning; apparently NO ONE is expecting me to pop in. As much as I have shared with you guys, you can imagine how much more my family understands how I feel.

So sorry to hear of your loss. :( I understand why you wouldn't want to go (and shouldn't) and agree 100% with you on it. You know if you need someone to talk to... we're all here for you. :)

I'm not sure why, but I think this is hysterical.

HILARIOUS. Printing it out. Hanging it near my desk at work.

I'm trying real hard not to complain about the cold and snow right now when I know ya'll are getting nailed with much more than we are here. But I forgot my hat, scarf, and gloves in the car. It's gonna be a very cold walk to the garage. :( (I got dropped off at my office this morning)

In that case, as you stated, it's probably best to just pray he goes as peacefully as possible and remember him as he was.

We got more snow than expected, probably 2 inches, maybe just under. Slick roads, but most of the snow on the main roads has melted away because it's 30 degrees!!!! I am not freezing when I step outside. It's great! On Wednesday it says a high of 41!!! I'm so excited! First we have to get through a couple more rounds of snow, though.

Where's your initiative? Where's your ingenuity? Probably shouldn't talk considering I can't even muster the energy to drive 5 minutes to Target to get valentines for my kids' classes.

Actually it might help. A few more snow days like this and images of the Austin area looking nice and warmer than this mess might convince my gf that maybe Texas isn't so bad of a place to move to.

Normally, I would say "Just head anywhere south!", but, it appears even a lot a' them are gettin' pounded right now.
