One Little Spark...
I've had issues like that, but I refuse the surgery - I really don't like doctors on the whole...
I've been avoiding one as well, but logic dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. And, since I have family that loves me, I really should take care of my body, as it's the vessel I sail these turbulent seas of life in...so, better make sure the hull stays ship shape! :p

Our's stays up until Orthodox Christmas - January 7th.
Coming from a Ukrainian background on my dad's side, that's how we always did it.
Hubby wishes I would leave it up even longer. Might be because he is the youngest of 7 children, and was at home for at least a dozen years alone with his parents, and they often didn't even put up a tree at all.
One of my college suite mates was Ukranian - her wedding was awesome!
and I was the middle child of 7, so i was never alone in the house. I never had a bed of my own til I went to college.

Wow, 7? That's a lot.

I'm the youngest of 2. I sometimes wish I had a bigger family, but then sometimes I'm glad to be by myself. :p

Our wedding was awesome too. We had our reception at the Ukrainian hall; as did my parents in 1966, and two of my three brothers after me in the 90's.
Granted, this was almost 21 years ago, but we paid $13 a plate for an indescribable feast. Hall rental uncluded. Had to pay $75 for their bartender but could supply our own booze.

There was like one person of Polish descent that married into the mass of Irish that is my mom's side. But they managed to carry over the tradition of leaving the tree up until the Eastern European's Christmas. So growing up the tree stayed and outside lights are up and on until then.

I just take mine down whenever I get the chance though so its usually down the weekend after New Years.

Nope. We didn't get married in the church upstairs - just used the hall.
We got married in a Roman Catholic convent, of all places. The entire choir loft was jam packed with nuns.

My parents were married in the Ukrainian church. Their wedding album shows that they both wore crowns in a very traditional mass, conducted entirely in Ukrainian. Nobody on my mom's side of the family understood a word!

My friend's wedding was that way, but she had filled us in on what to expect. It was really neat. her daughter got married a couple of years ago, and we were all together again for that. Good times!

In my small little town, I graduated with a girl who was one of 8 and another who was 1 of 12. Pre-pill.

My father in law is the youngest of 16. One passed away shortly after birth and one when he was 14. The rest lived deep into their 90s or are still with us. My husband is the youngest of 45 cousins - but he rarely sees them all since no one wants to invite everyone over!

I have to get going here - my son and his wife should be arriving soon, and my daughter will be here in the morning. My son-in-law has to work tomorrow, but he'll be taking the train down here after work. So I don't think I'll be on much for the next couple of days anyway.
Have an awesome Christmas everyone!

Have a great Christmas (and Boxing Day, and Kwanzaa)!

I'll pop in if I can. I'm hosting guests tomorrow and on the 28th.
