Nope, all my programs, files, etc are still there. It just seems like a broken part. I'm very relieved that I didn't lose all of my pictures and whatnot.

I wish I could sit in my comfy chair while I type this. It's pure torture here, I tell ya.

Glad you didn't lose any data. May be time to consider a cloud backup service? I'm partial to bitcasa myself, but there are a lot of options.

You can always pick up a cheap monitor online somewhere to use for the time being.

I have 3 monitors on my computer, all TVs. Two are connected wirelessly from my office, and are matching Vizio 32" LCDs that I got on sale. The other is a 60" LED that is connected to my computer which is in the living room. I have two wireless Keyboards connected, and one wireless mouse. One of the keyboards had a touch pad on it, and is the one I use in the living room. The other has a KB and gaming mouse that is in the office.

Oh, my office is actually connected line of site to my living room, about 20 feet away. That's why the wireless stuff (wireless HDMI/KB/M work well).

However, right now I can't use the 60" TV, because it fried. Still under warranty though, and samsung will be out to fix it on Thurs.

Your place is far more technological than mine! :p

And I have monitors (a TV and an old desktop one). I just never realized the benefits of sitting in a recliner using a laptop.

And most of my files aren't very important. I'll probably just save personal pictures on a flashdrive.

Most of mine aren't either. The important stuff is either tertiary backed up to my drobo and my WD USB drive, or reside on a server somewhere and I'm remoted in (work files).

However, I am a bit paranoid. I take a 2TB drive with me on my Disney Trips and dump my camera / phone pictures nightly to it and my laptop where bitcasa picks them up and sends them to the cloud. This means I can carry around a smaller memory card (though, I have 2 8 gigs, so...) and if I lose my camera, I only lost the photos / vids from that day. Which, would still stink, but it's better than losing everything! I just pop in the SD card at night and start the file transfer before I go to bed. Works great!

So I heard a bunch of sirens outside a bit ago and looked out the window and didn't see anything. Turned on the scanner and thought the police said "fire alarm." Well, it turns out they said "firearm."

Someone was shot in the stomach I believe a few blocks away from my house. I went out to "snoop" around before I knew this, and there was a lot of police activity going on. Cop cars were stationed at a lot of places.

I'm back home listening to the scanner now. Sounds like they've narrowed the search down, and they're blocking off a road.

Eek! I hope it turns out ok.

Don't answer the door! Even for the Pizza Man!

When I was out before and heard the guy was driving a dark sedan, I was nervous passing every car.

Just now hearing that the suspect has a military background, which somewhat worries me.
