I live on a corner lot on a dead end, and it's like the only house on the "block" (since the block isn't really finished). They will plow the street up until our "block" starts, and then turn onto another street and keep going. They don't even do those streets until well into the day. And they still haven't done them yet today. Then our little area, they do whenever they want. And when they do get to it, more snow has accumulated, and they plow us in. Love it.

They will pull you over here for that. Your windshield has to be totally clean.
They will now. In the late 1980's it didn't seem to be a problem. Or at least the state patrol dept. didn't bother with it. I grew up and worked out of the district of city patrol.

Once when I was in junior high our bus made it through 7 or 8 miles in the ice and snow to arrive in front of our school. But we never got off the bus. They had just decided to close the schools, because the roads were too dangerous. So we went back home again through the ice and snow.

My husband had a 30 mile drive to school for his first job and I always worried about him driving there because his school was located in one of the snowiest parts of the state. They had a nasty habit of calling off school just as he'd get off the highway up there. :banghead:

Now with cell phones and e-mail people probably get word on time a lot more often that things are closed. And the forecasts (however imperfect) are a lot better than they used to be, so they can make decisions about closing earlier.

Back in my day I would of had to walk 20 miles to school in a blizzard, uphill both ways, or else face a whooping from the Dean.

Or I slept in and played Halo. Whichever you think sounds more believable.
Well, given the average speed of a human in 1.5 miles per hour, if that, it would have taken you 13 hours to get to school. I choose to believe the second:p

I think I need to say something here.

Nemo just asked nicely if we could switch topics. There was no personal jabs at anyone. I've asked politely for the topic to be changed, and we have gotten through it without any problems. Everyone just said "sure", or "okay", or just simply moved on from that topic. I don't know why we can't do the same here.

If there are any personal problems against any posters, could we please not bring them into this thread? This is a thread for fun and friendly content. I don't want to see this thread ruined after so many laughs.

Thanks.

Thank you, and that all sounds great to me. Point well made and well taken. I try not to take things personally and I don't have any problems that I know of with anyone here. Also, this is just such a difficult form of communication sometimes, too...other than some smilies, punctuation, bolding of letters, etc., it's just more difficult than face-to-face interaction, or even over the phone.
Anyway, all that bein' said...
Let the show go on and the silliness abundantly abound...!!!!! :joyfull: ;) :)
