It had to be the Super 8 by what you are describing. That is sad about the diner though. Honestly as we drove through post Bear's, with the changes to the highway over the years being farther out, we'd hit the Culver's over the diner.

Strange how a sad day for many brought back some pretty darn fond memories. Mixed emotions.
The diner itself is still there, but it's not running anymore. The lot that it's on is actually owned by the Super 8, and they increased the rent by a lot, so they couldn't afford to keep it open anymore. It's so much different today that it was 10 years ago. The Main Street has been completely redone, and is now two-way, and there is a whole commercial area on the opposite side of town from campus now. It's by no means big, but it's so much different than when the Bears practiced here.

It's F1 weekend here. Just got back from the mall. People from all over the world wearin' their Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, etc. gear all over the place.
Maybe we could pool our resources, buy a car, hire a driver and form a team. Team Saget...we could be sponsored by Butterball.

Any day is a bad day for a funeral. :( I don't know what to say to cheer you up.
Awe thanks. How sweet of you. I feel for my sisters family, mainly her daughter and hubby. There for the living. In reality the woman was pure evil right down to her last breath. So I'm good, but it is hard to watch the BIL and their DD wrestle with the conflicting emotions about his Mom/Grandma. In the end they are family no matter what. Bad day, so this thread left me with some laughs and good memories today. All is good.

Oh My. Next summer we will have to do a full tour. Landlords, Oy. They just get too greedy at times. Wow, it will be interesting to see Main Street. To me it was akin to WDW Main Street but more brick than wood. It by the way has far more on it than mine. We have a Starbucks, 2 pizza places, a bakery, a 7/11, a diner and we are done. We had an ice cream shoppe at one time but it folded. No grocery stores, no retail. Welcome to small town USA :)

Now I'll have wrestle with leaving my memories of Platteville intact or seeing progress in motion.
