Also if anyone is near Philadelphia I'd recommend go to Eastern State Penitentiary around Halloween. Had a lot of fun there tonight, even with the rain rolling in halfway through. It's just an awesome setting for a haunted house.

Now for the long drive home.

I will be VERY close next weekend, but I'm not a fan of haunted houses.

It would be a four hour drive from Pittsburgh. Is it worth a four hour drive?
I'd say 90 minutes away and under. If you were already in Philly for the day and needed something to do at night, I'd say its worth it.

During the day its open as a museum and gives normal tours through the prison, including a lavish cell that they kept Al Capone in. I've been meaning to do the normal tour for a while, but driving to Philly from where I live is kind of a pain. We left too late to do both this year.

I'm going to be busy during the day. But I think I'll be able to see the prison in the distance.

Nope, won't be visible.

@The Mom Let me tell you about the best haunted place I have been to that freaked me out so bad I almost had a panic attack and haven't been back since. It's called Bloodview and we didn't realize it was basically "free reign". As you pull under their arch and into the parking lot the "fun" begins. The Legion of Terror (if anyone has heard of them) perform here and the make-ups are phenomenal. One of their founders was a contestant on SyFy's FaceOff so you know I'm about to BM.

We started walking towards the main entrance when we realized we were being followed by the undead. At first I thought they were other guests that came in costume so we walked a little faster and so did they. We started power walking like Richard Simmons until I turned around and realized they had disappeared. I made it through most of it pretty well. Even a room with a psycho couple behind bars where a man was chainsawing body parts and a young demented sailor girl was slapping passerbys with "skin" which was really pieces of bologna, but after stepping on some that had dropped on the floor and the mind playing tricks I started crying. Then came the room's doorway that separated members of your group. I was walking in the front and went through. At the last minute I reached back to grab my date's hand...and got a taloned claw attached to a rotting birdman thing instead. I was so freaked out that I didn't let go of that claw thing and the birdman walked me through that room where I met up with my date, who thought being split was the coolest thing. (Jerk.)

We made it to the end and I was shaking and vowing I'd never go back again and I was thanking goodness it was over....until I go to get in our car....and a hand from under the truck next to us reached out and grabbed my ankle. I got in the car and started hyperventilating after screaming my head off. As we were leaving the spooky ankle grabber was standing at my window waving byebye. My date thought it was funny....I never went out with him again.

The thing I did really like about that place is it is sponsored by the local Lions Club and all profits are used for their charities.
