OK so I have a logistics question and rather than start a thread I figured I'd bother you guys for the answer. We have never done Fantasmic (I know - blasphemy) since my kids (OK it's me) can't sit for an hour waiting for a show. Anyway with FP+ I'm going to try it. It's scheduled for 7 the night I want to go and we're going to have dinner at Captains Grill that night. My ADR is for 5 but I think I should change to 4:30 to be safe. What do you guys think?

Cancel the trip and go to Universal instead. (kidding)

But I'm not good with timing things, so I'm no help.

Depending on how much time you like to take for a TS meal and transportation, 5 is probably cutting it too close. The extra half hour will definitely give you a good enough of a buffer to not have to rush around.

I have no idea how seating works with FP+ though. I'm assuming you have guaranteed seating. For the folks just walking in you are supposed to be at least an hour early depending on crowds (I've only been to WDW in the summer). Also if you have to spend any time watching the preshow: Bring something that plays music and noise canceling headphones. You will want to throw the hosts of that preshow into the water after 10 minutes of listening to them.

Since I'm popping in for a sec...yes you should probably change it. Though Yacht Club is close to DHS, you should still plan for at least 30 minutes of travel time to get there. Walking is faster than the boat usually, but it can be a long walk. Something else to think about is a late dinner. This is what I'm doing for my January trip. My friend and I will spend all day in DHS, see Fantasmic (also at 7), and then eat at Epcot and stay for EMH.

If you decide to take the boat, hit it at Swan/Dolphin as it goes directly to Studios from there.

I never thought about a late dinner - how long is the show? We can get the kids QS before and then the grown ups can eat a real meal after. Good to have another option.

Thanks for popping in ;)

The show is about 25 minutes long. If you schedule your dinner at 8:30 or 8:45, you'll be able to make it.

And you're welcome :)

I read in another thread someone was told to be there 15 minutes before the show and the FP+ section is next to the dinner package section. They said there was plenty of seating 15 minutes before. I'm still going to change the ADR to before - just in case - and consider a late dinner after as well. Of course Captain's Grille only has 5 - not 4:30 (I have 5:15 so it needs to be changed) so I will need to keep checking. Oh well - who on this site doesn't love a Disney project?!

Oh that short? I ways thought it was at least an hour. It must be really good for people to line up an hour before for a 25 minute show. Now I'm intrigued...

Why is Katy Perry stuck in my head?

In my accounting class senior year, the teacher (my mom....) would play the radio during work time, and this song would always play. It started to become a joke between my friends and I. We counted how many times she said "I'm wide awake" in the song, and if I remember correctly it was 21 or 22. We always joked that her next hit song would be "I'm Sound Asleep". Because who can be wide awake that long?

You think that's crazy, in Disneyland it's shown in front of Tom Sawyer Island, and there are people who get picnic blankets and are out there 3 hours before the show. I'm not kidding; it was crazy
