In honour of Lesley's last dinner with us, I will be doing a full turkey dinner tomorrow.
Canadian Thanksgiving is actually next weekend.

Anyone think I can get away with counting tomorrow's meal as our Thanksgiving dinner? Keep in mind, Thanksgiving is a pretty low-key affair up here compared to your celebrations.

Two full turkey dinners, two weekends in a row is a bit much, doncha think?

No! :hungry: ;)

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
@JenniferS. Simple solution. Next weekend have a Prime Rib dinner. Turkeys and Cattle all are part of nature and the fixin's are as well. I don't know about up in Canada, but, down here in the states, if the Pilgrims had been able to shot themselves a tender cow, Prime Rib would be the choice of them all.
Y'all are missing the point.
I don't like to cook - remember?

Two big family meals, two weeks in a row, is too much work.

*she says as she knows darn well knows she can't weasel out of turkey (or prime rib!) next week.

Oh my . . . serenity. I'm so glad places like this still exist . . .

I was born in Chicago and lived there the first few years of my life and we moved to a very nice suburb where my folks are still at. I moved quite a bit in my 20s and then landed here in my little Hamlet. Yes places like ours still exist but boy the way of life takes some getting use to. It was a great place to raise a family, the best schools but it is also difficult. As small and quaint as it is, it is small, every kid knows every kid which isn't always a good thing, my kids had the same kids in their class for 9 years. Talk about clicks. Government tends to be dominated by people who have been her for many generations, they never leave. When my son was in college I generally tell the Sheriff two doors down I was leaving, that way when my DS had parties he would know to come down and tell them all to shut up when it got too loud. We are not always about serenity but we have 125 year old builds and a church that is much older. We have original homes that are almost 200 years old that have been fully restored and on some roads closer to our one block uptown there are still tie downs for residents horses of yesteryear. Some of it is quite charming and other times you just want to scream.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing restaurants in Canada. :)

I was thinking restaurant too. We have gone out to dinner for Thanksgiving for about 30 years now. My Mom was a teacher and they went to school on Wednesday and it was a lot of work for her to pull off. Nobody like to clean the mess up either. We always go to a high end steak house. My Mom treats and she says even with the high bill, she says it is cheaper than everything she had to buy when she cooked. My Mom is a good tipper. She tips on Thanksgiving over the top generious on Thanksgiving and the server almost always comes back to make sure it was not an error. She confirms and says thank you for doing this on Thanks Giving so she doesn't have to.

My DH employer of his years ago use to send them all home with big honk'n turkeys. I use to give it away but finally there was nobody who wanted Tom any more. I started cooking the bird the day after Thanksgiving as my DH and kids pulled out the tree and outdoor Christmas decorations. It became an odd tradition here on glutton day. I still cook a bird and all the fixings but in a very low key way. I cook in disposable tins, the side dishes are all transferred when made to tupperware. We have our feast off of good paper plates and clean up takes about 10 minutes at best. As much as I genuinely like to cook, clean up is sucidoodles.

I like how you think. Prime Rib at a restaurant would be even better, if I combine both of your posts.
