If you really want your mind blown, Google chocolate and Guinness pancakes. :hungry:

I'd go there... :) :hungry:

OK, I read it about three times and no where does it say that it isn't a Canadian national way of pronouncing about. "Aboot or Aboat", still the same. Regardless, of ones heritage, the British influence is there for all citizens, eh.

Oh, yea... one other thing. Quebec is the only place where one can get Real Maple Syrup? I somehow think that Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and New York would beg to differ.

Isn't that aboat right?;)
My whole point was (and always has been), we (and more specifically me!) do NOT say "aboot".

So, I'm standing at the counter waiting for the Keurig to finish, and Hubby comes up behind me and says, " Two things: a) Your a** looks amazing in those jeans, and b) I love you".

And that, gentlemen, is how you keep the "coffee" brewing after 29 years.

We went to a maple sugaring in rural Ontario once, sponsored by the U of Toronto. THAT was some good maple syrup - fresh from the tree (after boiling it to reduce it) We spent the morning tapping and collecting the sap, and then spent time having a square dance while it boiled, followed by a dinner of bacon and pancakes - with lots of beer. ;)
Was it for "education"? because if beer + pancakes + bacon + fresh mapple = education.. I'm moving to canada!

Sixteen members and their families of one Northern IL Fire Department are stranded in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, trapped by Hurricane Odile, there for a destination wedding. Can't get them or the other 24,000 tourists to the airport safely yet because of all the looters.

Guests are not going to forget this wedding.
theres looters because the entire money system is down. Noone can purchase anything and they get desperate for food and water.

Yes, I understand. Not anything different then what happens here during disruptive times. From the limited telephone calls that have gotten back to our state they are fearful for their personal safety and families safety if they go out into the streets and attempt to get to the airport. 'We' have been able to get some military planes and commercial aircraft into the airports, just can't get the peeps to the airport.

We have beer and pancakes all the time. It's a tradition among my husband's rowing group. :hungry: Up before sunrise, so by 10:30 or 11 it feels like afternoon.

That is funny. I know the feeling even though the beer thing isn't likely to happen with me at any time of day.
Has your DH always been a rower? My BBF DD was a rower in the last Olympics and now is a coach for a University.

My husband has only rowed for about 30 years - started when he was in his 30s. He never rowed in college. My son rowed in HS, but opted not to do so in college.

The IHSA doesn't have the rowing option as far as I know, there are more HS that have something similar to hockey that are loosely affiliated with a high school but most of the costs is incurred by the parents, unless they win then the school is there for the glory.

My BBF Olympian DD, she took 4th  in the Olympics, never rowed until college. She was an excellent Basketball player that blew a knee going into college, rowing was a substitute sport.

At least the military and "Gendarmerie" reportedly already have the situation under control.

hilariously.
eluniversal.com.mx reports that there is phone service.. (one tower active) but only on top of a small mountain lol.

12 x 12 is gigantic!!! D:
He started chemo today.

He will have 3 days straight of in-hospital chemo, followed by an 18 day "flush", most of which will be spent at home; and then back to hospital to repeat the process.

I wish him all the best.
Unlike many people, I have great sympathy for addictions, and mental illness.

There's a lot of bat-ship crazy and addicted relatives in my family tree, which is why I avoided cigarettes, alcohol, weed, narcotics, and all drugs my whole life.

It's like I always said to my kids (fruitlessly, it would appear) - You can't get addicted to something you never try.

Your last sentence about what you told your kids about avoiding substance abuse, is sound advice for anyone. I feel the same way you do, and never, ever got into drugs. I saw what it did to others, and I wanted no part of it.

The Jacksonville FL area has 4 HS programs, and two clubs that have junior rowing programs. 3 are private HS, and 1 evolved from a single HS but now is open to all public HS students, along with home-schooled students. The clubs are open to all MS/HS students. Some of the schools have rules pertaining to competing in a club if the school has crew.

Many FL high schools have rowing programs. Our state scholastic championships take 4 days. Two for sweeps (each rower holds one oar), two for sculls (each rower holds two oars).
