I'm glad you shared another side of the story. Although I would never want to be one of those tourists stranded there, at least there is some explanation as to why the looting began in the first place. Anyway, I hope the tourists can get out safely, and quickly. Sounds dangerous down there now.
well, theres desperate looters for food and water, but there of course will be the dumb type looters ( who try to steal damaged and worthless electronics ).
It happened in my town when it got hammered with Hurricane Kenna (cat5)

Boy howdy, did we ever get some rain last night. Around 4 inches, which hasn't happened in a while.
Had to take the long way in to the office 'cause my country back road short-cut has 7 low water crossings on it and was closed. The creek was pretty bone dry, and now it's a torrent.
The Weather Channel had been saying the Austin area had gotten an inch of rain an hour.

Yeah I was reading when looters emptied the appliance store, pulling up in trucks and emptying out furniture.
Don't know what it is about catastrophes that bring out the ugly in 'some' people. So not limited to your area.

We have enough stupid around here to go around too. Riots during protest in Ferguson, MO then turned to looting.

5 nights...plus we arrive early on the first day and fly out late on the last day.

We did that the last few trips, though we've always left early, had to if we flew out of Ohare 'cause that place is as nutty as Atlanta. We were on property by 930am and we didn't fly home until after 9pm going home. We hit two parks on arrival day, Epcot, then MK EMHs (up about 20 straight hours, adrenaline) and two parks on departure day, MK opened it and then Epcot.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Sounds similar to our trip.

We'll be checked in and at a park by noon.

Our last day, we don't fly out until 8:30'ish.
Sadly, our last day is a no-park day (Day 11), so we'll be breakfasting at WPE, shopping at DDT, riding the boat to POFQ for beignets, and then maybe hitting the Florida Mall.

That's the way we always do it. My January trip with my Bestie we didn't get there until around 2-ish thanks to snow, but we were in Epcot for EMH until 11. My parents have always had the rule that it's worth a day on your pass if you're in the park for at least 6 hours. Doesn't matter for me since I have an AP, but I wanted to stick with that rule since she was paying per day. On our last day, flight was at 8:15, so we got to AK at 10 am and stayed until 4. I'd say we got the full use of our passes.

I've stopped counting the trips I've taken to Disney long ago, it would take some real thought and probably still not accurate. That said, I have not gone into the parks on my going home day only twice. Both in 2007 when my son was a CP. I went down with him and his stuff stayed in the parks two days and took the first flight out day 3. And that same fall I took my DD down for 16th Birthday and to see the DS down there. We flew home late morning 'cause it was Thanksgiving Day. Made it home in time for Dinner at Weber Grill. And gave DS a nice gift card to treat his new gal to Thanksgiving dinner when they got off work. That's it twice in a year.

I don't think I pay attention to the vast majority of avatars, though some do catch my eye.

Today, it was like Whoa!

This last trip I think was possibly one of our longest going home days. We at Cooks, EMH MK 8am, saw opening rope drop lunch Contemporary Monorail to Epcot until 4pm, so we got 8 hours in and a snack at resort before we left and still time to charge all of the electronics in lobby before we climbed on the dreaded DME back to MCO.
