Okay, back from the Frozen thread.
A couple of thoughts that I have no intention of sharing over there:

- I am less upset over this than the Poly desecration.

- Disney sits on a hot property forever, they get lambasted.
- Disney jumps all over a hot property, they get crucified.

- Maelstrom needed help. Way more than a general clean up. It certainly wasn't going to happen any time soon without a pressing reason.

- And darn it all, Epcot needs more rides - not "attractions", actual rides.

- Maybe it will turn out to be fun. They might do a superb job. Only time will tell.

- Now, while they're at it, add some rides to existing countries - uh hmmm ... river ride in Germany. Heck, the building is already there, is it not? Bullet train in Japan.

- Add a couple more countries while they're at it. The space exists. Top of my wish list - Greece, Australia, Polynesia, and "Africa" (not a specific country, but a nod to the culture). Heck, they've modelled entire resorts to the last two, but no "country" in World Showcase. And yes, I know Morocco is located in Africa, but like Egypt, it seems more mid-eastern in its culture, religion, and language.

Flame away, I don't care. At least you guys are my friends, and not likely to be insulting.

My dad's reaction: "Well, it can't be any worse than Test Track". He's probably right

Agree with you on the additional countries. Although Africa exists in AK. I'd like Spain.

Between the Frozen thread and the arguments about Ray Rice on the NFL thread, I'm just kind of like,

Oh Dear. I saw those photo's today, made me sick to my stomach. I have not wandered to the NFL thread yet this season, guess I'll have to go peek tomorrow. Tonight it might get my adrenaline going, preventing sleep.

I wouldn't mind it so much had it been a Norwegian attraction featuring the characters of Frozen. Ya know, Olaf shows you Norway in a film; Anna and Elsa explore their homeland. I can live with that. But a Frozen attraction? That belongs in MK. I would have loved to see them bring to life the Ice Palace in MK. That would be so cool.

I'm hoping that since there's no timeline (yet) that this was to see what kind of reaction they would get and that they will come to their senses and put it in MK. I could even live with it being in DHS. Just...not Epcot.

And this^ means a lot coming from you, our Grand Patriot of Frozen.

My big issue is that between the Stave Church being Frozen, the restaurant being a Princess meal, the gift shop will probably be all Frozen merch, and the ride being Frozen focused there is nothing about that is Norway anymore. It isn't a WS pavilion anymore, it is a Fantasyland attraction masquerading as one. There are so many other ways to replace Maelstrom with something that is still actually related to Norway.

WS does need more rides, but this isn't adding. It is -1 + 1 so it really isn't fixing the issue. If Frozen was so successful for DHS why not put it there, that park needs more help than Epcot does.

@JenniferS How is life going with adoptive son #3?
All is well.
He's talking about moving up to his Mom's next summer, so it looks like I may have him 9-10 months.

We bought him a new rug today, so once he gets that in place, his "new room" will be complete. It's just the old junk room in the basement, but he seems quite content down there.

I've learned that despite eating NON-STOP, he's actually quite fussy. He eats no onions, no sauces, no luncheon meats .... And he eats a lot of peanut butter.
He'll get along just fine with Son #1 in all of those respects.

Apparently he's buying a $900 dirt bike tomorrow. He's 18 1/2 years and he's not my kid, so I don't care. Furthermore, I have no say; so it's a good thing I don't care.

Actually, I haven't watched Frozen in weeks. Actually, since I was in WDW. Kind of went through a Beauty and the Beast rediscovery though and watched that a bunch of times. And listened to the Broadway soundtrack a bunch of times in the car. Then I kinda went on a Once Upon a Time binge. When I'm not studying or watching baseball, guess what's been on? On season 3 now. Which then it will come back with Frozen and lead me back into the loop again.

Sidenote: Even though I haven't watched Frozen in weeks, I have listened to the soundtrack. There was karaoke when there were no parents around. In the hallway. Acoustically perfect.:brb:

I'm pretty much with ya for the most part. Disney needs to get past their business model for Epcot, doing nothing unless they find a sponsor to foot the bill. 'Til then it just deteriorates or gets cheap overlays.

Ha! I'm visualizing the Karaoke. I love the sound track to Beauty. My favorite remains Lion King.

I've seen both of the stage versions when they came to Baltimore. Twice on each. Love the Broadway soundtracks to both. The voices are amazing and I love the additional music. They tell so much about these characters through music. I'm very much hoping that the live film adaptation of Beauty and the Beast with the music from the stage show gets made.

In addition to the karaoke, I've almost learned "Let It Go" on the piano (Got Vuelie). Almost. That section after the second chorus is...ugh. The other day I also sat down and tried "Reindeers are Better than People". Short, simple, I'll have it in a week. Started working on "Do You Want to Build a Snowman". That one's kind of tricky, but I think it's just a matter of getting it to click in my brain. The piano no one minds unless they're trying to watch TV. The karaoke...my brother doesn't mind.

I still have not visited that thread. Maybe tomorrow.
just skip pages 30 to 50.. your brain will melt with the blatant ignorance on culture and history of many nations. :(

The infuriating part is.. Disney is racking billions every year.. yet they need sponsors for everything?
are they THAT cheap?

I do worry for that pavilion though. It is small and narrow. A slow loading low capacity attraction that will have every Frozen Fan Queue'n up to experience it. Those lines will be long, guests will be angry with cranky children. Poor Guest Relations. Add in the return of a meet and greet, that pavilion is going to be ugly especially when they replace the school bread with Frozen Cupcakes.

My DS is hoping they leave the clothing area alone, a good chunk of his clothes and his winter coat came from the Norway Pavilion. His fear is Disney pulling it all out and turning it into a Princess Frozen Store.

Oh dear . . . he may be on to something there. They do have unique, quality clothing in that nice shop. Prices may be a little above my puny budget, but that's not the point. There's nothing wrong with ogling beautiful things and gaining an appreciation of nice styles from another country. Epcot, after all, is supposed to be a learning experience on many different levels. :banghead:
