Well my first thought was Stop It. On a whole that is a high school thing and even in High School the trend is all but gone. If you are going to attend these functions go to Sally's Beauty Supply and purchase the ones that will wash out the next morning. I don't think this is Walt had in mind when he made his comments about not growing up. At somepoint we all had to grow up, get a job with health insurance and a 401K, move out of our parents basements and take responsibility for our futures. Hard to do with purple hair as the statement you'd be making, I have the maturity of a teenager, isn't what will land you a good job or any job for that matter.

You asked.
I did ask. Purple hair isn't exactly what I had in mind. Lol. It's the image persona that would also be associated with my new business. Steve Jobs had his black turtle neck shirt and wore jeans all the time. That style helped shape his identity. That's what I'm really going after. A style that would associate with my identity and the business I'm building.

I got the idea because in Hollywood, everyone is doing something original with their hair. That's what I saw and what they do with their hair communicates their personality. I don't know if that's just a trend there but believe it or not it says a lot about individual people.

I get what you're saying about a "style" that would go with whatever business you're building. As a suggestion, why not consult a trendy hair salon and maybe ask for some professional advice? You may end up with a great new, edgy look, but not one that goes too far to the extreme (like all-blue hair, for example).

Generally speaking, I tend to be more conservative, especially with regard to any interactions in the business world. And it's just my guess, that if you toned down a new "look" or "persona" a bit, this could actually give you more (business) credibility with your new client base.

There are regional trends, and CA is a bit more cutting-edge in their style. Sometimes fashion trends that originate on the West Coast, become trendy out in certain areas of the East Coast, after a year or two. Maybe if you're starting a business, it may also be good to consider the "style" of the client base in your own area. I don't live in Florida, so I can't comment on regional preferences there.

Florida is one of the least trendy states. We do things only after everyone else does it, with Miami Beach the exception to this rule. But even they seem to be a couple of years behind CA.

Keep in mind, I'm normally not concerned with these things, as long as I look "clean" and not like a bum. When I got into the electronic music scene several years ago, I spent a day at the mall one day before an event and bought some new clothes that I felt comfortable with and coincidentally, when I wore these outfits, I always left knowing and making friends with (and who remembered my name every time I would see them again in the future) than during the times I wore my usual outfits. Back then, the style kind of conformed with a general sports clothes style and was still an individual style - silk black zipper shirt with white stripes and loose nylon elastic sports pants with side zippers and white vertical stripes. What makes this Hollywood trend unique is that everyone is different. There's no generality to conform to. Individuality is the key.

I'm never into trends or style. I'm into computers, electronics, Disney, movies, and so on. This is highly unusual for me, by the way, to take a sudden interest in this. California must have rubbed off on me!

I am inexplicably in a really bad mood. No reason for it.

In fact, it should have been an awesome day, considering the following:

- Son #1 started back to school today.
- I just got back from the travel agency, having made the final modifications to our trip and paying it off in full.
- I dropped off all the stuff for our charity garage sale tomorrow, unearthing all kinds of "treasures" in the process.
- I picked up my car today. The bumper has been repaired (not replaced), annual paint protection was applied, car was undersprayed, and fully detailed.
- Judge Judy appears to be an episode I haven't already seen a dozen times.

And yet, I feel really pi$$y. Let's blame the weather.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets in bad moods for no reason. I can't get out of my funk today.

I'm sorry. Because they lost.

Yes the Bears did. Joy Joy. The Bears and their rivals have both gotten off to a poor start. I'm disappointed but not surprised. But I'll love them anyhow and just dream of them going to the Super Bowl just like I dream of the Cubbies going to the World Series in my lifetime. My son was not even born the last time the Bears won the Superbowl.
