Ugh. Some people (not on the forum) just infuriate me.
We all have been there.

I honestly I just tell these kind of people to gently F. Off. :angelic:

Pets are funny, and can be single-minded at times. Whenever you go into the kitchen, open the frig, or a cabinet, I swear a dinner chime goes off in their heads! :)

That was interesting about the "slow down bowl" for Daisy. I never knew anything like that existed. My dog inhales his food—I don't think he even chews it at all!

Just wanted to mention that barbecues can be low in price. For many years, all I ever used were hibachis, and I never spent more than $12-15 on them. (Maybe now with the summer winding down, there might be some good sales in your area.) I don't like the gas or propane grills they sell. I prefer charcoal in a regular Weber (basic) grill (just bought it recently). I even get the pretreated charcoal, so that I don't have to use lighter fluid. Lighter fluid scares me; I'm such a wuss! :(
I second on charcoal. the charcoal gives a clear flavor to the food.

also, not sure what the prices are of grills, but you can get these cheap ones made of sturdy metal (half barrel torched with metal bars) for like 30 USD.
Webber pro grills are pricey here (all above 500 USD even for the most basic model)

As for lighter fluid, why not just use oil + paper ? I honestly have never used fluid.
Also you could use these wood sticks that are very flamable (We call them "Ocote", which are red wood splinters that have very flamable veins and fluid, perfect to start up the charcoal)

Driving in it takes practice, and it's not fun.

I actually like shoveling snow. Whenever we have a snowstorm that comes in overnight, I love going out early and shoveling the front porch and steps. Usually, I'm the only one out that early shoveling (in the dark)on the street—except for the city plow drivers that go by, and wave to me! (heh, heh . . .)

I suppose you have a very muscular build in winter to handle all that shoveling?
are you rocky balboa in disguise? ;)

Alberta is host to the Chinook winds. You can go from blizzard to spring, back to a deep freeze, multiple times a month.

From Wikipedia:
Chinook winds /ʃɪˈnʊk/, or simply chinooks, are foehn winds[1]in the interior West of North America, where the Canadian Prairies and Great Plains meet various mountain ranges, although the original usage is in reference to wet, warm coastal winds in the Pacific Northwest.[2]

Chinook is claimed by popular folk-etymology to mean "snow-eater", but it is really the name of the people in the region where the usage was first derived. The reference to a wind or weather system, simply "a Chinook", originally meant a warming wind from the ocean into the interior regions of thePacific Northwest of the USA (the Chinook people lived near the ocean, along the lower Columbia River). A strong Chinook can make snow one foot deep almost vanish in one day. The snow partly melts and partly evaporates in the dry wind. Chinook winds have been observed to raise winter temperature, often from below -20°C (-4°F) to as high as 10-20°C (50-68°F) for a few hours or days, then temperatures plummet to their base levels. The greatest recorded temperature change in 24 hours was caused by Chinook winds on January 15, 1972, inLoma, Montana; the temperature rose from -48 to 9°C (-54 to 48°F).[3]

Very interesting! another weather pattern that surprises me, is the "derecho". Specially for the huge winds it causes.

Oh, and the latest thing that happened with that mole: the spot is now infected!:banghead: I was told to try to keep it uncovered and let it heal a little. I got concerned when I started seeing puss coming from it and asked a friend of ours who is a doctor about it. Turns out he says it was poor advice and I need to keep it covered with a bandaid and put triple antibiotic ointment on it, and if it doesn't heal, he will write me an antibiotic prescription.

And yet another reason why I will not be returning to that dermatology place...
that really sounds like bad malpractice..
It seems the doctor might be good, but the doctor's helpers (nurses..etc..) are awful!

Well, Peeps - I have accomplished very little today; but I did it all on 3 1/2 hours sleep (and NO NAP), so I am off to read for a bit, and then maybe an early night.
Catch y'all at 6:30.
Good night.

sleep well!

Such a beautiful weekend to relax in Erie, PA, and get away from everything at home. Spent three days at Presque Isle beaches which were a little crowded and our hotel was booked solid. Yep, no one told us it was a CANADIAN holiday weekend and many CANADIANS come to the area on vacation. :D Just kidding, the hotel was full of nice wonderful people. We managed to squeeze in going to see Planes:Fire and Rescue and really enjoyed it. SOOO tired (and red as a lobster with pruney fingers from swimming all day) that I hope to have a great extended nap.

Happy to hear that you and your daughter had such a nice vacation, in Erie, PA! It's nice to get away, and enjoy new scenery and experiences. :joyfull:

Your reference to Presque Isle, PA, reminded me of Presque Isle, way up in northern Aroostook County, Maine; yet, I suppose the similarities are in name only.

Here's a bit of trivia for you, compliments of MinnieM123's Book of Facts — :D. Did you know that the first sunrise in the U. S. is at Mars Hill in Aroostook County? Yet, for a few weeks around the equinoxes, it first rises in West Quoddy Head in Lubec, Maine—the easternmost town in the U.S. Lastly, during fall and winter, the first sunrise moves about 150 miles southwest of Mars Hill, down to Cadlillac Mountain, in Acadia National Park, Maine. :)

Ha! In response to your first comment above, no I'm not Rocky Balboa in disguise. :hilarious: I guess I just have strong arms from shoveling snow, living in the Northeast all these years! ;)

She's a cat person.

When he went to New York, I don't think he liked it there. He doesn't seem like a big city type of guy, and I don't think he got along with all the players.

Are you saying the Jets are a dysfunctional team with a circus of a locker room?
You'd be right - I'm just curious if that's what you were saying?

I really didn't start paying much attention to football until Rodgers' first year as starter for GB, so I really didn't see how Favre played as a Packer. I have seen several games, though, and I loved the way he played. There truly is nobody that brought that type of energy to every game they played. I also know how he was a huge part in changing Green Bay from a small town that the NFL may be outgrowing to a consistent championship contender. Without Favre, Green Bay would have fallen off the NFL map.

Football is a multi-billion dollar business. Much as I'd like to believe the teams always have the fans in mind, they are in the business of winning games. Not satisfying emotions of the fans. They drafted Rodgers and felt it was time for him to play. Favre wasn't ready to retire. GB didn't want him to play for anyone else. Someone was going to be disappointed. Similar situation happened to Brees in SD but he wasn't as old or as revered as Favre was. Squeezed out for Rivers.SD drafted Manning (traded him for Rivers) and they needed to make use of that asset they paid a lot for. It's a business. Sometimes I think Meg would fit right in.

Tomorrow morning I find out how badly/quickly my life may or may not change. A great lot hinges on a meeting.

Positive vibes, please.

Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, I can't just tell this person to F off. She's trying to be my friend when we are oil and water, and when I disagree with her about ANYTHING, suddenly the world is against her. She's jealous of me and the fact that I'm in college and have a car when she's not even old enough for either of those things. She also has zero respect for me. So I'd really like to tell her that I don't want to be her friend. But I don't know how to say it without coming across as a horrible person.

Yeah. Teen drama. I am WAY too old for this.

Wow. This quiz about "Where are you in the USA?" was actually accurate. Must. Contain. Surprise.

Can We Guess Where In The USA You Actually Live?
  1. You got: The Mid-Atlantic
You’re rough, tough, and love playing the underdog. You love sports, winning, and competition in general (that’s what happens when you live in or close to a city), but also know how to kick back and enjoy a day at the beach. But most of all, what matters to you is family.
