This March we had many snowstorms. A snowier March than normal, but snow is very common in March. We'll get it in April, too.

While I hate winter here, spring, fall, and summer are all perfect for me.

I hate winter. Fall is the next worse. Spring is weird here. I like summer.

Winter I head South for a while to get in the 60's. I can't handle cold temps because of my asthma; it's one of my triggers. Below 60 I can't exercise outside, below 50 I shouldn't be outside. Ruins skiing and sledding for me.

Something fishy about smelly shark on the N train

Subway shark! Subway shark!

There were no such warnings on the Queens-bound N train after a small but menacing-looking gray shark turned up dead beneath the seats early Wednesday.

Instead, the few passengers on board scurried to other cars after a getting a smelly dose of Shark Week on the subway.

"I was pretty shocked at first," wrote Brandon Sanchez, 20, a New York University student who lives in East Williamsburg, in Brooklyn, in an email. "This is definitely the weirdest thing I've seen happen on the subway."

Sanchez said he saw the shark after getting on board at Canal Street at about midnight.
But seeing a dead shark was not what made him hop to a neighboring car. On a subway system known for the occasional ripe odor, it was the smell that did it, he said. He got off at Union Square, but not before snapping a picture.

An MTA spokeswoman said a conductor got word of the shark at about 12:30 a.m. A supervisor eventually disposed of it, and the car was cleaned, she said.
The MTA did not know how the shark got on the train and had no plans to ask, spokesman Kevin Ortiz wrote on Twitter. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, he tweeted that he was getting "unconfirmed reports that the shark was headed home after a night of partying in Coney Island."

Juan D. Cano, 31, first thought it was a fake -- a promotional tie-in with one of those shark-related cable series.

"It's 'Shark Week,' it's 'Sharknado' -- somebody's got to be doing something," Cano said as he stared at the prone predator in the car.

Cano soon realized this was no cable promotion.

"It was a really potent, fishy smell," Cano said. "You can't fake that smell."

We had to then, we were young and foolish. Once we realized that just going to FL for a week in our February break was a much better experience than going for 3 weeks during the summer, we never went back in the summer. We haven't been there in the summer now for 14 years.

My dad has often stated that if he didn't have kids in school, he'd spend the month of January in FL. But he does have kids in school, so we go in August and for one week in January. August we just kind of chill by the pool and hit the parks in the evening, or we do a water park during the day. We'll be there two weeks and will maybe do a full day at MK our first day and one or two days at AK. We don't really mind the heat, though; usually it's just as bad here as it is down there. And there at least it rains on and off, not for three days straight!

Howdy - same old, same old.
Did you have fun in Boston?

It was nice! Stayed mostly in the Quincy Market area. Walked down to the public gardens, saw the swan boats, went in a few historic cemetaries, etc. It was a gorgeous day. Only snag was hubby got some sort of food poisoning (he also has stomach issues that creep up every 3 months or so and it could have been that) and we had to cut our last day short. Spent the day we got home in the ER getting him fluids. They didn't admit him this time, but it's 3 days later and he's still feeling not so great.

We had 2 kids in school and 2 adults teaching school when we came to our senses.

1 week in February > 3 weeks in the summer

To each his own. I get a little over three weeks total so I get 1 week in January + 2 in August. But you guys like doing the National Parks and such, and we don't, so I guess that makes a difference.

We drove by - saw the lights, monster, etc. I was all stressed out about driving in Boston so once we parked by the aquarium (he wanted seafood - may have been his downfall!) we stayed in the area. Could have taken the T but wanted to get back to gamble!!
