The frozen ones that you toast are not bad. I used to buy them when I went to school in Boston because they were trying to pass off a kaiser roll with a hole in it as a bagel. You can't get good fresh bagels mass produced. They get soggy and tough. The best bagels are fresh from the bagel place, still warm. That's why the frozen ones, toasted, come close. But nothing beats a fresh bagel!

We are so far from a good Jewish Deli. Where I grew up for the most part as a kid we had choices, so good.

Thank you guys for getting me to, and now over, 11,000 likes. :) you make me feel special. And that's not something that happens often when you're me. So truly, thanks.

Some of my favorite nonsageteer posters are over there! I don't mind, but I wished he'd let it loose already.
I've been there a lot lately, but, I can assure you that it wasn't because I am anxiously awaiting Mr. Spirits bomb dropping. Chances are it won't be much more then a firecracker anyway. His sources are staying pretty tight lipped as of late. And if Disney is following his every word, as he says they are, then someone that he is friends with will be in deep doo-doo. So, not expecting much.

The day we got married, my Hubby said to me, "Today was the last time I will ever eat Cheerios. Please do not ever bring them into our house again!"

His parents worked when he was a teenager. Every morning, before they left for work, his mom would knock on his door and say, "We're leaving. Get up. I've poured the milk on your cereal."
That cereal was always plain Cheerios. And those plain Cheerios were always soggy.

On the actual day we got married, there were a lot of people at his house. His mom made bacon, eggs, french toast, home fries, and coffee for everyone. Hubby however, was a little jittery that morning, so he was outside washing and waxing everyone's cars. When he came in, she had cleaned everything up, put everything away, and realizing that he hadn't eaten ... poured him a bowl of plain Cheerios.

Secretly, I think that was her way of ensuring that once he moved out; he stayed out.
Never ate much cereal other then for an evening snack, but, I also have never understood the soggy vs. non-soggy concern. If you don't want them soggy, don't put milk on them. Seems like a simple solution. Personally, I always waited until they were totally soggy. That's how I liked them. If I wanted to chew something crunchy all the time, I'd grab a handful of pebbles. My favorite breakfast sandwich from outside was always the Egg McMuffin until recently, now I am addicted to McD's Sausage Burrito and they are only $1.00 on the value menu.

Lenders are OK, but just OK. They are small and dry out very quickly. I found that a 15 second trip in the microwave fix them up just fine. Thomas Bagels are the best non-bakery bagels that I have ever found. When I lived up north I used to buy Thomas Onion Bagels all the time. They were wonderful. They were always moist and non-jaw breaking. They were great with creme cheese or peanut butter, but they also made great hamburg buns. They also worked well with Egg McMuffin ingredients. Can't find them here in NC, but, I occasionally have some shipped down to me. I'm headed for Vermont at the end of the week and I hope to stock up on a few. They are very freezer friendly.

I have no idea. Time has been speeding up lately - I'd like to know who made me 41?

You did, by livin' so dang long!!! :joyfull: :D :) Just bein' silly...!!! ;)
Just wait 'til ya' hit 51 and beyond...
I remember summer break felt like about a year when I was in elementary school...and, I liked it that way!!!!! :joyfull:
At this point, I'm pretty sure time (human-wise, anyway) is an exponential concept. ;) :)

Went to RJ Grunts today. The very first Lettuce Entertain You restaurant in Lincoln Park/Chicago in 1971 in a hippie neighborhood, now coveted neighborhood of the high end professionals. The place hasn't changed much, squished in tables. It is also the home of the first ever Salad Bar.

And then we had the 1/2 pound Works burger. Slurp. :hungry: Bonus it rained while we going in on the train and in the restaurant but it was beautiful walking there and around the zoo.

We went there before hitting the Lincoln Park Zoo. Good Day and home again, safely.
That burger definitively looks delicious!

Woah that's some loud thunder going on out there!

What if the weather IS READY TO RUMBLE???

I've never ordered from them because (1) no need and (2) they've got SOME NERVE charging those prices.

Actually, I lied. I ordered bagels as a surprise Christmas gift for my brother in law and his wife who live in Colorado. We don't usually exchange gifts with them. But they never called to say they got them, or to thank us, so I have no idea how they were. They told my mother in law we sent something, but didn't comment on the quality, so I have no idea if they were any good.
