The breakfast of New Jersey: Pork roll, egg, and cheese on a bagel
thumb_600.jpg
I am now hungry! damn you guys! :(

In other news, I once had a deli like that, with some delicious Salami, Ham and triple cheese combo.. (I'm asucker for melted cheese) :hungry::hungry::hungry:

Slightly off topic here, but I have to share this.
FYI - I already told my Auntie this is the funniest story ever, and that I would be sharing it with everyone.

Disclaimer, she's almost 70, and has spent many, many years in a Third World Country.

On a whim yesterday, she decided to Google Satellite image her house in Mwanza, Tanzania. Locating Lake Victoria, she was able to scroll around and actually locate the house we are renting.

Much to her consternation, she saw a car parked in the driveway. That house is empty right now, but locked up tighter than a drum, as medical supplies and food are being stored there. The house is gated, and only two people (other than the owner) have a key to access the courtyard and driveway.

Anyway, it was supposed to be night-time there, and she had a panic attack thinking that someone was breaking in. She called our Director in Mwanza, and had him go over there to check why a car was parked within the gates.

"Mama Jani", he reports, "there is no car there. And no evidence that anyone has tampered with the locks."

Obviously, she thought she was looking at a live image. After talking, I realized that she thought that every time someone input an address, the Google satellite zoomed in where you wanted, and showed you a real-time live image.

Then we laughed and laughed.
Oh, I can tell you how many times I heard similar things online about google earth and satellite images. :|

Well, you can't just say that and not tell us what they are! :p
Well, believe it or not..

Apart from the usual eggs, sandwiches or Tortas (mexican sandwich)
We also eat:
Migas (combination of Fried tortilla in cube shapes, sliced onion and tomato, scrambled eggs and spices)
Huevos Rancheros (fried egg with fried tortilla bed)

For Later than 9:00 am breakfasts
Menudo (usually on the weekend)
Torta Ahogada (a classic)
Tacos de Carnitas (Fried pork part tacos, I particularly love the tongue tacos)
Birria and Barbarcoa (type of stews)

Went to RJ Grunts today. The very first Lettuce Entertain You restaurant in Lincoln Park/Chicago in 1971 in a hippie neighborhood, now coveted neighborhood of the high end professionals. The place hasn't changed much, squished in tables. It is also the home of the first ever Salad Bar.

And then we had the 1/2 pound Works burger. Slurp. :hungry: Bonus it rained while we going in on the train and in the restaurant but it was beautiful walking there and around the zoo.

We went there before hitting the Lincoln Park Zoo. Good Day and home again, safely.

Are Lender's any good?

The frozen ones that you toast are not bad. I used to buy them when I went to school in Boston because they were trying to pass off a kaiser roll with a hole in it as a bagel. You can't get good fresh bagels mass produced. They get soggy and tough. The best bagels are fresh from the bagel place, still warm. That's why the frozen ones, toasted, come close. But nothing beats a fresh bagel!

Is it also the first place someone got sick from eating from a salad bar?

Since it was cool today and had rained on and off we had some great sightings with the critters at the zoo.

The Lion climbed the tallest rock and kept re-positioning himself sitting and standing. The Tiger kept talking say loudly owe owe owe, pretty cool sound and he was enjoying talking. The Gorilla was getting hand fed pieces of fruit, the Beaver was having a blast swimming around, we saw the Sea Lions being fed, the ostriches fighting and a baby 900# hippo and 2 baby gorillas, same Dad different Moms. But my favorite was the Polar Bear, he was swimming laps and enjoying interacting with the guests, we stood and watched him forever. Sadly the elephants have all now passed on and doubt they will be replaced.

Nope and even before the use and then ban of MSG. Food is amazing as is the service. Most tables are the small tables of 4 and in clusters of 4 in almost a diamond shape. Elbows almost touch the guest at next table, your tushie has about 6 inches to clear the next table to reach your chair.
