The Canadian Dollar is back up to 94 cents USD, but is expected to be back down to 90 cents within a month or so. Guess who's going to get her US money tomorrow.

Also, it's really looking like we may be buying a cheapie condo in Florida. Sadly, not for another year. And of course, it depends where our dollar sits at that time. Hubby mentioned he found a couple of properties on line that interest him.
My only requirements - < an hour to WDW, < an hour to the beach.
Did you guys ever look into DVC membership? Not <an hour from the beach, but you'd be in WDW and then could go to Vero when you're ready for the beach, or if you drive down, you could stop at Hilton Head. I've never been to Vero, but I've heard it's quite lovely, and I can personally vouch for Hilton Head. It's not cheap, but it allows us to go 2+ times a year, plus the savings on APs and the merchandise discounts plus other discounts make it well worth it. Just a thought.

I'd be hard pressed to sit in judgement of the counselors if there town opted not to sound any warnings. I know my our Camp Counselors are trained to listen for warnings and Thorguard. My heart goes out to the families. Awful.
We get alerts on our phones here, and even if our phones are on silent, the alert overrides that. Plus I think it's their responsibility to keep an eye on the weather, especially when it was getting dark. I could tell about an hour before everything started that something was coming in. Someone did not do their job over there.

Yeah, we are different there. I don't know what happened to that particular group of kids or why the counselors would put their own life in jeopardy. It is easy to arm chair quarterback and judge. We all parse what part of our religion we choose to follow and what parts we choose to ignore. Beaten into my teeny tiny brain was always "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. I don't sit in church often but I try to follow what was taught to me.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

We are "between sites" (read, unemployed) for months at a time.

Perhaps you recall, I was off from May 2012 until the end of January 2013, worked four months, and am now off again until the new year probably. Hubby's site should be done by the end of September. He too, will then be off until the new year.

Would be nice to take off for 6-8 weeks at a time, not just 6-8 days. Eventually, we'd like to become snowbirds, spending six months (less a day) down there.

Obviously we're not going to buy from the internet, but will use one of the realtors up here that specialize in Florida real estate. I would be quite happy in a townhouse or a 2 bed/2 bath apartment style condo. There is a lot to be had for less than $100K.

Again, just talking. No plans for at least a year.

In our business, we get paid half of the commission after the deal is firm, and the other half when the house is built and the deal closes 1 - 2 years down the road.
Assuming everything closes on time, we are looking at a very pretty June - August next year.

It sure is quiet in here tonight. (And if I've learned anything from @unkadug, the only way to start a conversation is to comment on how quiet it is.)
Sorry, I closed at work again tonight. I tried to tell them that I needed to handle my duties as a Sageteer, but they told me no. It's like they don't even know how important of a job Sageteering is. Without Sageteers, the world would cease to exist!
