So here's my plan for the 4am shift. Try and get to sleep around 9pm CST (which means I'm off to slumberland around the same times as the senior citizens of the world), wake up, get ready, go to work, struggle through 6 hours, come home, go back to sleep. The Sunday morning duties are the worst too. All we do is take sales stickers and put them on shelves, but 75% of the time you can't find them.
Welcome to the wonderful world of making a living!
DD and DS used to enjoy making fun of DH and me because we would always be in bed by 11 if not earlier until they both got real jobs that involved 1.) getting to work on time and 2.)well, working. You too shall learn, young one...

Can't find the stickers or can't find the merchandise?

DW thinks the sales stickers are often deliberately put in the wrong place at our grocery store so you'll pay full price for something you thought was on sale. My theory has always been that the stickers are put there at 4 AM by really tired people who don't much care.

I envy my cousin's job. She works at a small local store in Galena, IL (I think that's where it is). She gets paid like $8.50 and gets 8 hour shifts so she doesn't have to work every day. She also gets "bonuses" in gift cards to the store she works at. One of her coworkers has around $500 in gift cards to the store. And she's in high school. There was plenty of jealousy to be had when she told me this.

We can't find where the merchandise is to put the stickers on. There are sequence numbers to help out (on some of them), but often times there are multiple sequences mixed in one area, so they are really no help at all. And when you're relatively new to the store you don't know where things are. The toy section is the worst. I dread that place.

I think your theory works better. After about 5 minutes of searching for one item, your care for the rest of the items starts to go down.

Having worked in a toy store before, generally they are broken down into gender (except newborns), then age categories then subcats like action figures, dress-up dolls, plush, box games

That part isn't the problem. The problem is there is no rhyme or reason to where the toys are placed in those sections. Within 3 or 4 spaces of each other there could be 2 different Sequence 25s. And half the times you can't find them at all because they either aren't out there or things are placed in the wrong spots.

Yeah I guess it would be hard to re-tag improperly/incorrectly stocked shelves.

Perhaps your store needs a reset?

I hate to say it, but, I'm pretty sure he's talking about you @Nemo14. Who else could it be?
