The Folklife Festival on the Mall features China and Kenya this year. I don't think that would call for palm trees.

I think they were just trying to confuse me.... not too difficult a task I might add

Happy 4th gang!!!
Pretty lazy day today.
We just got back from my folks.
Good food and good visit.
Smoked pork ribs and sausage, three bean salad, potato salad, etc.
Just chillin' again tonight and right now watchin' Captain America on FX. We were gonna' head out for some fireworks, but the skeeters were eatin' us alive out on the deck at my folks. Wetter this year than last and they're a bit thick these days. Got up to 93 with some scattered t-storms, but, we never got any.
Hope y'all have all had/are still havin' a great 4th...!!!

OK - maybe @Lucky can answer this: we're watching the DC fireworks on PBS, and I keep seeing palm trees. Why???

Well, there is a very large amount of hot air there, so it's possible.

I pretty much did what I said I was gonna do. I followed my agenda really close and did just about nothing all day. For lunch though I had a can of Spaghetti-O's that I ate out of the can and then a can of sliced peaches which I also ate out of the can. I started feeling sorry for myself just thinking about it. Then, wouldn't you know it, just about the time I had worked up a large portion of self pity, my neighbor brought me a homemade peach pie because she heard I liked peaches. Damn, there goes the pity party.

Because if she drank from that bottle, she put her germs in it, and then the germy water was run through the coffee maker making the coffee maker all germy.

I thought she was talking about cleaning her bottle. If it were run through the coffee maker the germs would have been killed off by how hot it makes the water.
