anyway.. whats with the drama with the hatter guy?
I've been most of the day out and suddenly theres something going on and I dont even know what D:
He used to be a very active member on the Boards here, particularly in the Dining thread.

He was a Scotman (who had lived in Canada for a number of years).

He got into a wee bit of trouble when he shared the fact that he had pinched a young girl's behind while in line for some or other attraction. Many people were seriously angry. He tried to gloss it over, to no avail.

I thought he was a lot of fun, until the "unfortunate incident".

I always wondered what happened with him.

I'm so tired I can't remove myself from the couch to go to bed.

I had about the most awkward phone conversation today...

My mom's at her high school reunion, which means that by default I now answer the house phone. I get a call asking for Donna (Donna is my step grandmother). And I say no...and she confirms that yes she's looking for my step grandmother. I tell her she got the wrong residence. It happens on occasion since my father and grandfather have the same name (my dad is a junior) and we have the same zip code. So she says, "Well, do you have a number to call her?" Yes... "Well, I'm her aunt, and her uncle just died. I need you to call her and tell her that her uncle died and she needs to call me." o_O Anyway, I offer to give her the number, but then she says, "No, no, I can't call her; I need you to call her." So I agree because she absolutely refused to let me give her my step grandmother's phone number.

So then I call my step grandmother, who I have not spoken to in over a year (I have a shaky relationship with my grandfather and her ever since they conveniently forgot that I graduated high school, but that's another story) and tell her that she needs to call her aunt. She said that she called her aunt 3 times today, but was surprised that her aunt had called me. Originally my plan was to call her to tell her to call her aunt, but instead she asked me what the message was, so I had to tell her her uncle died. Very gently. Thankfully she was just shocked that it had happened so quickly and thanked me for calling her. Still...that was awkward.

Welcome to adulthood. You have 60 more years of "awkward" ahead of you.

From what I understood, the incident was the last straw. He was becoming increasingly tired of the negativity here and the increasing personal attacks. The other forum is much friendlier. I've never seen a personal attack of any kind. It's also pretty slow and it can get boring over there. Sometimes it's an hour or more before someone posts ANYWHERE. But Hatter posts daily and keeps it lively.

As I said at the time - I am a middle aged woman who has had her behind pinched more times than I can count. If I had a nickel for every time I was pinched, groped, felt up, or had my uniform kilt flipped, I'd be retired; still rolling nickels.
To many of my generation, it's no big deal. To others, it's major.

Unfortunately for Hatter, those who were offended were majorly pi$$ed. And let him know it.

Has anyone here ever rented an ECV while at WDW and know of a good company? I'm looking into it as a possibility...I'm still dealing with the ankle and the doctor said the best case scenario is that I need physical therapy...the more likely scenario is that I'm in the boot for two months with the possibility of surgery. Going for an MRI on Tuesday.

pinch as in touch the butt of a girl? woah thats bad..
no surprise he got the fury of many members.. the whole "pedo on the job" vibe might have marked him for life now.

I always wondered what happened with him.

I honestly miss when mom (the moderator) was actively pushing for a cleaner atmosphere. now wdwmagic seems to just deleting random posts, but not calling people out when members start to act seriously rude and antagonistic.

and after seeing the constant bickering in the frozen ride thread..I am no surprised he just gave up.

in other news, I'm still trying to figure how PALO works in the Disney Wonder XD

I have never had that happen, but then usually, I find that guys are usually not looking at my butt, and where they are looking, they would get slapped if they touched. Bestie and I did have some interesting experiences of getting hit on while at WDW, but anyway...

I didn't think it was a huge deal either, and it could have also been a cultural difference. You do have to be careful what you say in forum like this, though.

I do like that other forum. For instance, I'm going to ask my ECV question over there and see if I get a response. If I ask over here I might get a few responses...and then other responses about why I don't need an ECV or shouldn't go to WDW if I'm injured or whatever.

That's why I don't even venture out of Chit Chat anymore. Occasionally I'll venture into the DVC section (where the complaining, and posting, are less frequent), the Disneyland section, or if someone is asking a general question in another section, I'll look at that thread and try to help, but just the complaining constantly and the personal attacks bother me.

Honestly, if it weren't for this thraed, I probably wouldn't even be on here anymore, at least not actively. It's unfortunate because I feel like it's gotten worse since I first joined.

Walker Rentals. They'll deliver it to your hotel for you, and pick it up there too.

I pretty much retreated in here too because of it. The Maelstrom thing was the first time I felt compelled to reply to a N&R thread in a while.
