All the photos you have seen are taken at angles that conveniently cuts the nearby chemical plant out of the frame. ;)

Oh my. I bet Dr. Evil's secret lair is in that mountain, too...?!

It was only dirty because there were tons of people there for a space shuttle launch, and there were not enough garbage cans to hold everyone's garbage.
well in my case.. that is usual every holy week.
the lowest education and income mexicans go out to the beach and wreck everything. (including random car crashes due of driving drunk)
not fun.
We usually just lock ourselves down in our areas until the crazyness goes away

My observations: My Magic Plus experience at WDW.

As @Goofyernmost mentioned last week, if you just use the plastic card, it works fine. (You don't need the Magic Bands, unless you want to charge food or other items to your Disney hotel account. Guests at Disney hotels also need the Magic Band to open their hotel room door.)

For those of us not staying in a Disney hotel (I was at the Swan--a Westin), there's no need for the band, unless you just like wearing a band on your wrist (I don't). The upgrade charge to a band is $12.95 (again, this upcharge is only for the non-Disney hotel guests). No thanks.

Each day I went to a kiosk in the parks. The only day I got good choices was Monday morning at Animal Kingdom. Every kiosk is staffed by a CM. They would do everything for you, and I believe this is because it would take way too much time to explain the system to every person who stopped by. As it was, a number of the kiosks had long lines, all depending upon the time of day.

What I found bizarre was that the CMs pretty much insisted on giving me 3 fastpass selections whether I wanted them or not (they told me the computer worked faster if you took the 3 selections . . .). For example, in Epcot, if you just want Test Track, they'll bundle that with Journey into Imagination and maybe Ellen's Universe, for example. Well, what if other people really want Ellen's Universe and can't get that, because the machines are reserving that, too, for people like me, who have no intention of going to it? Seems like there's a lot of waste in this new system. Plus, since I didn't have an iphone, they wanted to print out a page listing my selections and times; I told them I'd just write it down on my park brochure instead.

Keep in mind I went to the parks solo. All the major rides had lousey times left (if I got to MK at 10 a.m., a fastpass for Space Mountain might not be until 8:00 p.m., etc. What do families of 4 do when they all want to ride together? I'm sure they have even fewer options.

In conclusion, the way the new system is set up now, if you don't book ahead of time (a 60-day option only available to Disney hotel guests, or unbeknownst to me, a brand new "test" option for Swan & Dolphin for 30 days out, versus 60), you won't have too much to choose from, on the days of your visit. Despite reading about this MMPlus for some months now. I didn't realize that you need to also need to create an account for yourself, and the fastpass selections tie into your card (or band). Had I realized this, I could have created an account even a few days ahead of my trip, and gone online to try & reserve a few fastpasses.

While I was at the Swan, I went to their Disney desk, and I asked if they had a computer for guests to use to reserve fastpasses. I was told no; you'd have to either have an app on your phone (I don't have an iphone), or your own laptop (nope, not that either). That left me the only option to use the kiosks inside the parks, on the day of each visit. I asked a CM at MK if I could reserve a fastpass for Space Mountain for the following day, and he said no, you can only reserve a fastpass at the kiosk on the day of your visit only.

In conclusion, the old system had a more level playing field. Those days are gone. I still had a great vacation despite the MMPlus debacle; but again, I was a solo visitor and took advantage of single rider lines, and went on other rides that posted 30 mins. or less in standby.
