When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Hubby had epidural shots in his back today so I got to mow the lawn. We have a ride on (and a half an acre of property to mow) and in 13 years of living here he's never once let me mow. It was pretty easy. Almost exactly like driving at the Tomorrowland Speedway (both smell and sound of it). I mowed Zamboni style.

It does not look good. Kind of like when a kid shaves for the first time. I missed several spots. I spun the tires on the hills and messed up the grass. But I got to pretend I was in Tomorrowland for an hour.
Looking on the bright side. :p

We have a siren that goes off whenever the fire department is called.

When we moved out here our fire department sounded an alarm from the top of City Hall. It was such a high low whinny sound. We just got a tornado siren about 3 years ago. This year we received lightening detectors. We're move'n on up to the big time.

Oh dear, is he OK?

My DH likely now would like to hand over the lawn but I'm not going there. I mowed our lawn at our previous house once and at the same time mowed my parents that he was suppose to and the neighbors lawn of my folks that my Dad always did but their were in Europe for 3 weeks. We had been married almost a year when my DH totally ripped out his ACL so I was stuck with 3 lawns and zip instruction or experience. Back then the ACL surgery involved taking another part of knee and making a new ACL. I did it and I was out. I do almost all the snow but grass so don't want to inherit that too.

And another note on the ACL. About 3 years later my Shepard was running around in the snow and ripped out her ACL totally. There was a traveling surgeon that brought a new surgery over from Austia. Our vet offered up her as a ginny pig at his practice at no charge to see what this Dude Doctor could do. The procedure was 100% better than my DHs and they started doing a similar thing with humans shortly after.

Okay guys. Got the all clear and made it through. Flooding, trees down, the usual. Thanks for the well wishes.

Really relieved to hear that the storm didn't turn out to be as bad as originally thought. I was off the computer last night, well before you got the o.k. from your weather service, and I was wondering this morning if all was well in your area. Glad everyone is o.k. :)

He's had back issues for a few years now. It get better - then worse. Hoping the shots help but it's pretty bad this time - he's actually starting to consider surgery so it's got to be hurting a lot.

I suspect your hunch will be what happens . . . believe me, the LAST thing I think will happen is that the MT would open while I'm there! :(

Just show your Sagetteer membership card - it will get you right in!!!

A chiropractor who practices A R T (active release techniques, it's a lot more muscle work and hands on manual traction compared to the usual chiropractor bing bang boom done and next please routine. ART specialists get recertified every year and keep afloat on latest techniques and treatments. It's really rather cool. A good ART chiro is going to spend a minimum of 30 minutes working on you per session.) might help him out...I don't wanna do the "try the chiro!" Harp but it could be well worth it if it helps versus surgery.

My ART chiro fixed a sprained ankle in three treatments and used kinesio tape on it twice...went to disney a few weeks afterwards and didn't have any problems :)

Oh Boy. Poor him. I hope they perfect the new laser surgery by the time he does decide to have surgery.

Thank you. Picking up branches is the extent for my property. Some schools closed because of flooding. It's amazing people think they can drive through high water.

Sitting here watching tornado warnings popping up all around me. :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Glad you made it woman. Have you been out to see if your property and house are OK?

I was in a town meeting last night when the emergency warning on my cell overwrote the silent on my phone. Old people behind me were making that sound of disgust through their teeth, bet they don't have a smart phone. But of course mine had to be the first to sound and little by little everybody's phones started setting off that same emergency sound. The traffic Light was out when we came out but nobody was out anyhow. The last round that I was awake for was around midnight. About 65mph winds.

All of us were out of the house for most of the storms, my DD said most of roads heading south were barely passable and the Pup was happy to see her, the first to come home, then proceeded to have a temper tantrum and dug up his bed and threw his toys and rawhides all over the family room. He doesn't care about thunder so I wonder what that was about.

Can't wait to go out and look around and see how it is out there. We were blessed, could have been so much worse.

My SUV can get through most of the flooding if I really need to, but it always baffles me how people in my town have no issue just plowing through salt water puddles without worry. I try to avoid them. Then a Subaru zooms by in the opposite direction splashing my car with their wake...:banghead:

Breaking news bulletin: Over the weekend, I had some unexpected, financial pixie dust fly in my direction. Out of the blue, my MIL told me that she was going to pay for a Disney vacation for me!!! I was absolutely stunned. She knew our bills had increased this past year (yet, no different than everyone else I know ...).

I had not planned to go away to WDW until next year, and now I'm going this Friday for 4 nights/5 days. I'm psyched! (DH doesn't go, he's not a fan of WDW. That's o.k. though, because WDW is one place I don't mind going solo at all—done it a number of times over the years. It's always fun! )

I am right there with ya, solo, with friends or family who cares, you're going to Disney World! Woot!
