Who are you? In 5 words or less.

Hubby: Nobody important. Just a man.
Me: I am my father's daughter.

Anybody else?
You could have tried something more original...

"I AM SPARTACUS!!!"

Our kids have always been similar that way. My DD only played dress up for a few months when my niece gave her some outgrown princess dresses. She never related to princesses. I never encouraged it either. I find it mind numbing that most of these princesses needed to be rescued by a prince and as a parent that most films knocked off the parent(s). And repeat. They did do a trip or two with autograph books but most came from meals or pop up out of no where informal meet and greets. The longest we ever waited would be about 10-20 minutes for those beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They quickly figured out the autograph books meant little to them and stopped wanting to do that on their own.

Taking a big step back, this phenomenon is parent spurred and sadly from what I've seen mainly Moms pushing their princesses into it. While the kids may love the animated movies, I get that, we parents do not have to turn it into a real life experience. These little girls wouldn't know if they walked past the Fairtale Hall what was in there, I'd likely have said a museum with a 300 minute wait. Nor would I pay or surprise my DD with $100-200 one day make over to parade around the park in a hot dress, teased hair and makeup. My thought is what little girls don't know that Disney offers is perfectly fine approach. There is plenty I have not done at Disney that I could not justify the cost or my time away from the parks either.
Woah, you went to Nick's hotel for the turtles?

call me childish but they are huge part of my childhood and tried to get to them.. but the hotel reps said I need to stay AT LEAST ONE NIGHT to be able to attend their pizza buffed with the characters.. go figure.. D:

((Hugs))
Having lost my dad (62) 4 years ago, and then my mom (62) 18 months later, I know exactly how you feel.
Know the feeling as well, lost my dad 3 years ago.
and since all my uncles and aunts have the similar age gap.. I fear there will be a "domino" effect soon.

Yesterday afternoon I got together with my friend to work on a project, and somehow we ended up going over to another friend's place until 4am.

FROZEN SPOILERS AHEAD:

We ended up watching Frozen ('cause that's what three cool guys do on a Saturday night these days). Here's my verdict: it's a good movie, but I still stand by my opinion on the music. Some of it is decent, but it's not worth the all the hype it gets. I still think The Lion King, The Little Memaid, and Beauty and the Best have a huge advantage in that category. Also, the entire movie is made by Olaf. Take Olaf out and it's just an average movie IMO. My one friend was getting so into it (two of the three of us hadn't seen it before). When Hans revealed the truth, my friend just got up and walked away. :hilarious: I think he developed a crush for Anna. :cyclops: Final thought: baby Sven is awesome.
Baby sven definitively was adorable!

I'm getting yard stuffs done y'all. Table has been spray painted over the past few days and reassembled, umbrella up, and plants planted. Found wild strawberry growing in my yard so I made a fairy ring around it. Grass seed spread. I'm still not done but I am completely wiped out. It's been another busy day here.

Feels good, don't it? :)
Years ago, I found some wild blackberries growin' in our front flower bed and just let them go for a few years. We had more than a few blackberry pies during that time...! :hungry: :)

I can't even imagine spending $80+ dollars a week (or more) on gas for just my vehicle alone if I don't have to. That's definitely an expense we can have, at least, some part in controlling. :)

It goes back to my surveying days. Those ship yard gravel roads are rough. When I moved on she just remained part of my life. I miss her.

Olaf is so funny! He is my favorite character, too! :joyfull:

Did the one you see have monster truck wheels too?

No, not that one. But I have seen a couple, although they weren't Hummers, of monster-type truck limos around here before. :)
It was near the area where I work, which actually isn't even in the Austin city limits. It is it's own incorporated city called Westlake Hills, which is essentially in southwest Austin. Very affluent...doctors, lawyers, politicians, etc.
Have been noticing, along with the usual plethora of Merc's, Beemer's, Ferrari's, etc., a lot of Tesla's and Convertible Bentley's out as of late. Warmer weather, here they come. :)

Oh, I completely understand. Everyone needs to drive what they feel is appropriate and practical to get things done. Again, I have NO problem with anyone drivin' a Hummer, or whatever. I'd, actually LOVE to own me a big Texas-type ;) 4X4 someday, but, it just isn't practical, right now. My main dream car to own someday is a '69 Chevelle 454 SS. Probably gets about 8 miles to the gallon (if I kept my foot out of it ;)), which is pretty much what that camper got. My '71 Cutlass, not so bad. WOOF! The money I spent on gas for that camper...!!!  :D ;) :)

In other news, this happened.

New Guinness World Record Set For Most People Dressed as Ninja Turtles!

Yesterday, in celebration of the grand opening of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shell Shock ride at Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN, 836 TMNT fans successful set the Guinness World Record for the most people dressed as Ninja Turtles in one place!

I will have a full report of the event, along with a bunch of pictures and some video, coming up later this week (after I get my shell back to California). But, I will say in short that the event was a blast, and the ride is reallyreally fun! It was tough to get the cars to do a complete 360, but very rewarding when you succeeded - It really was kinda like ninja training!

Pirates queue stretches all the way to Haunted Mansion and over the footbridge and back and it closes for refurb tomorrow

Walt is rolling over in his grave over that overly full trash can. Disgraceful.

That's an awfully long line for Pirates. I wonder if fp+ Has anything to do with it.

Yes!!! I've waited so long to do this.

I'm pretty sure I'm already sunburned, though :in pain:

Oh my. Hope it isn't too bad.
I always wear a t-shirt, shorts, and.....wait.....for.....it.....tennis shoes. SURPRISE!!! :D when I mow the yards...! ;) :)
Plus a ball cap. I almost never get burned, though. I absolutely HATE tons of sunscreen on me, but, I have found that some of the Bull Frog brand spray-on ones are actually very protective and very tolerable, for me. :)

I'm very white, lol :) my German genes dictate that I become pink and red instead of tanning nicely until about midsummer.

I hate sunscreen, it makes my skin break out really bad.

Very much the same-ish here. Mostly of Czech heritage, then German, and then a few other things thrown in. Quit tryin' to tan in my early 20's. Such an invloved process. After that, I either just used the dreaded sunscreen, let myself burn a bit, or just simply stayed kinda' covered up. :)
