One Little Spark...
My niece plays Field Hockey for an All Girls College Prep School and sadly their talents are more or less on the field then their Call Me Maybe talent.

And, the innocence of this video is why I do not support co-ed schools as an educational concept from age early teens until 18.

College, sure. K-6, sure.

6 - 12, they need to be separated. It's better for society as a whole. Smarter women, smarter men.

One Little Spark...
16 for a learner's permit (G1). Traditionally a year before you can drive on your own with a G2.
Full-fledged licence (G) in about another year.

I didn't have to add the boys to my policy until they had their G2.
Two cars, three drivers ... Son #1 was listed as an occasional driver, costing about $100 extra per month.

We considered giving him Hubby's Freestyle rather than trading it in last summer. Three cars, three drivers ... and he would be the principal driver. Our insurer wanted $700 per month (liability only!!!) on a car worth $1500. We said nuh-uh.

I am in no rush for Son #2 to get his G2, because as you may well know already - he's a pot-head. No bleeding way I'm putting him on my insurance while he's still smoking up.
Much different then here. I got my learners at 15, my first car at 16 (a VW Beetle Convertable).

I was so excited on my 16th birthday when my parents gave me the keys to the car in a birthday package.

It was my Dad's old car (he bought himself a new one).

So excited.

I rushed outside, and put the top down and got behind the wheel.

They then said "there is more, open the glove compartment".

I did, and there was another B-day CARD!

Oh boy, what could it be? Money? Gas certificates (this was before gas cards)?

Nope. It was an invoice for the car along with my monthly payments to pay my parents for it, and an agreement to cover my portion of the insurance.

Still, I had a car at 16!

Ah. Our insurance policy is great. My parents didn't have to add me specifically because anyone living in your house is covered to drive the vehicles, so mine is technically not listed under me, but I'm still covered (covered me in full after my accident without an issue). Even if that changed it still wouldn't be horrible because they give good students a discount. My parents wanted me driving my senior year 1. so I could do after school stuff and my mom wouldn't have to pick me up and 2. because there was a good possibility I'd be commuting to school, and even if I lived on campus I would still need a car and they wanted me comfortable. They planned their car purchases years in advance so I would have one of the cars. They also switched the AAA policy from my dad to me, which is nice.

Here the learner's permit age is 15 and 9 months, your must keep the permit for 9 months, record 60 hours of driving time, 10 of which are at night, and take a Driver's Education course, which includes three sessions behind the wheel with an instructor (not counted towards your 60 hours). I got mine a little late, about 16 and 8 months old.
