I agree about the sewing. I am very good at it. When one of my Grands immigrated to the US she found work in a sweatshop making dresses. When I went off to Catholic School, the jumpers started at size 6. I wore a 4 toddler at age 6. She ripped the whole thing apart and altered. Mine looked better then the kids who wore off the rack. My Gran taught me to sew. It helped with altering the kids stuff over the younger years, they were very thin. Example, jammie waist lines were too big and too long.

I would make very elaborate Halloween costumes for them and my DH & Me as we always have a Halloween party to go to. Now I custom make my drapes in my home, they are beautiful and would cost a fortune custom, so I am the custom person. I also bought a table that is raised bar stool height and it is a large square, 2 chairs each side. It is hard to find table clothes for so I alter those too. It leaves me with enough removed material to make a table runner to put food on top of.

I've taught my DD to sew, a legacy that continues. She at 22 is quite the quilter, one pretty standard and another quilt made out of beach towels from her swim team days. That sucker is so heavy I have to take it to the laundromat to wash it. Sewing is a dying art, wish it wasn't.
A family friend makes blue jean quilts. Mine is queen-sized and heavy but so warm! She also makes kids full-sized pillows with one side soft fleece and the other is jean pockets. Her latest was a necktie toss pillow.

So my mother in law is going to go to Orlando with her niece, her niece's husband, and their 2 grandkids - ages 14 and 10. We think it's great because she really needs to get out of that house. I told her it would be a great primer for when she hits Disney with us next trip (she was reluctant to come with us when my FIL was sick and after his passing was too soon but now - no excuses - we are dragging her). So she responded that they don't go to any theme parks. ANY. They have a timeshare on International Drive and they just go to use the resort amenities. I have difficulty wrapping my head around this. I can see adults opting this route - but with 2 kids - NO THEME PARKS - I think they may be BSing my MIL because I could have SWORN the niece told me they were taking her to Disney. I think they know she's not a theme park fan and are planning to blindside her.

WHAAAAAAAAA?

I had to read this a few times. I still can't quite wrap my peabrain around it. But I think I got it.

...If you hogtie me and dump me at the gates of WDW tomorrow, I'll claim I've been blindsided and I might even put up a fight just for arguments sake...

Unrelated, but my new granola bar tastes just like the box it came in. Yuck.

If I had zero interest in theme parks, I would look to get a timeshare somewhere a little bit less known for theme parks... like a beach or mountain resort.

Believe me - I can't believe it myself. When she said "no parks" even hubby said he thinks they are planning on going. I really think they think she will say "no" to the trip and are planning on dragging her. She's a feisty one - and will not be pleased.

Have you tried the Fiber One protein bars? They are 90 calories and the chocolate/pretzel one and chocolate/peanut butter ones are really quite good!

So... We were pretty careful with our spending on this past FL excusions, so we ended up with $$ leftover from what we had planned. So we put it in our little (and I do mean little) account for next year's escape. Well, last week the battery died on my car and now this morning the starter died on DH's car. I think by the end of the day our little account will be in the negative numbers...

Stupid real life!!

That can't be good. :\

I don't really like the Fiber One bars... they have uh, obscene side effects for me. I've tried a few and all have had the same effect. LOL :)

I love the KIND bars. This new one is a Kashi crunchy granola and it's very similar to the cardboard packaging. Won't be buying it again.

AND AGAIN THE DOUBLE POST AHHHHHHH

I think its my computer. It's lagging, and looks like it's not posting. So I hit 'post' and it posts twice. Really?

I hate Mondays. Doesn't help that I barely slept last night.
I hate when that happens. It would be fine if you could delete the double post like you can other places. I don't get why you can't in ChitChat.
