Post vacation frustration:

My mom was going to get gas for the lawn mower. She took my car, something not out of the ordinary; my parents drive it every now and then to make sure it's running smoothly. She came back in and told me it's going nowhere. The ABS light came on and the book says it has to be towed. I can use her car if she doesn't have anywhere to go (like the dentist on Tuesday), but I really love that car and hope that's not the end of it! My first summer with my own car...and now it goes kaput.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully it's nothing major.

Thanks. It's a twelve year old car. This might be it. If it's several thousand dollars or something ridiculous, my parents will go get a new car and I'll get my mom's, but still. I really love that car.

@englanddg Aulani is absolutely lovely. Unfortunately, my allergies were terrible so I only ventured out once around the rest of the island, (I couldn't do the hiking because I'd be having an asthma attack by the time I got there) but Aulani is absolutely gorgeous and not really a bad place to get stuck. ;) I spent most of my days by the pool and occasionally wandered down to the beach. The weather could have been better. Aulani is on the dry side of the island and last year when I went, it was dryer. The day my parents climbed Diamond Head, it was sunny where they were and I was getting drizzled on. Oh, and they did fourth of July fireworks that were pretty good. The Ko'olina association did them for all the hotels in the area. I believe Disney contributed. They had music timed to them and everything. Nothing like watching fireworks on a beach in Hawaii.

I'm trying to get pictures from this trip up, but in the meantime, from last years trip:

I spent a lot of time on this lazy river...

I couldn't figure out where this was until this trip. It's from one of the restaurants which overlooks the ocean. Quite a view.

Breakfast there was really good. As was dinner.

One of them is ours. :)

I'll get more pictures once I get my mom's memory card out of her camera and sort through the 1000 or so photos (I'm not kidding, last year there were 3,000 photos). I'll be posting my Disneyland trip report within the next week or so in the Disneyland section. I'll probably add a link to my signature too so it's easy to find.

Awesome. So glad you had a good time (and sorry about your Asthma...I am also a sufferer, or was...I grew out of it in my teens)

Lucky. Mine was absolutely terrible out there. I almost grounded my flight out of there because of it. If I had been any tighter, I would have made my parents take me to the ER. Then my mom and I barely got any sleep because I kept waking up with it. I'm going to talk to my allergist later this month to see about plans for treating it when I'm away. If we can't figure something out, it's doubtful I'll be able to go back. :( We're talking about alternatives if my parents go next year again, like possibly my spending time visiting my aunt in SC and my grandma and cousins in PA.

And...we have some cell phone photos!

My view from a lounge chair right before it rained.

One Little Spark...
Very nice. My kid's step-father has family in Hawaii, and she is going to be there starting tomorrow.

Though, she won't be at a luxury resort, I'm sure she'll have fun!

Great pix!

Check the sensor. My ABS light came on when I drove it outta the shop months ago when I was having brake work done. It turned out to just be the sensor which is screwed up, nothing more. If there is something seriously wrong with your brake system, it would be shown more in sounds or smells rather than that light.

Thanks, this makes me feel better. I'm still going to get AAA to tow it tomorrow, but this car has a history of bad sensors. Like the fact that every time I turn it on it tells me that there's low engine coolant and low oil pressure. The dealer verified bad sensors. I just ignore it rather than pay the repair bill. Between the leaky sunroof, the breaks, the sensors...I'm guessing I won't be driving this car by this time next year. It's a shame; it's fun to drive and I'm attached to it.

A few years back we took our SUV down to Disney, and started to hear a squealing sound coming from the brakes. We took it to the AAA located near the MK parking lot, and it turned out that the rotors were crap (nice to know this after we drove over 1,000 miles :p). We ended up having to get the car repaired while in Disney. They were very helpful, though, and gave us free transportation to and from MK.

Oh I'm sure she will. :) Plenty of lovely beaches to swim. All public.

But the public restrooms...

Is she going to Oahu or one of the other islands?

That's good. At least nothing major happened. And Disney is always great about stuff like that. They don't want you to have a bad time if they can help something like that.

I've got a AAA membership. My dad used to have it but gave it up since he has the newest car and my mom and I are the ones who are more likely to need it. So nice, that piece of mind.

No, the main island. Her step-family there isn't all that rich, they live in a rather run down house with an astronomical land value. They still have fun every trip though!

By main island, I assume you mean the big island??? Or the one where Honolulu is located (in other words, Oahu)?

Everything in Hawaii is ridiculously priced. There are a lot of run down areas on Oahu just like any other place.
