I hope they evict the vultures that live there first! Egads!

It's not a vacation if there are no restrooms, beds, and air conditioning. Sorry. I guess I'm just stuck up like that.

I recall seeing those plans... The whole complex looked absolutely HUGE. I've never been to FW so I'm not sure how it would fit in.

I'm with ya, I want the same indemnities however there are plenty of fans that if they slap the Disney Brand on it they will go.

And no it will not fit into Ft. Wilderness. They can try and blend it in but the DVC will be everything the fans of Ft. Wilderness try and escape. But if Disney can sell more time shares they will give little credence to the complaints of the loyal guests of Ft. Wilderness. If you have time go and visit. Best if you visit for a little while and then go to dinner at Hoop.

It is such a pretty place. Many from around here have summer homes there, we divide between Galena, WI and Michigan for our retreat homes. If I remember correctly, as it has been a while, it is only about a half hour between you and Galena???? Dang they have some good restaurant in Galena.

Down here, for most of us anyway, our "summer home" is also our regular home.
Unless, of course, you're fortunate enough to own a lake home just 10 minutes down the road.

I am right there with you! I have never seen the appeal of camping. My friends love it and I'm like, "Yeah, I'll see ya later." Oh come on, they say. It will be fun, they say. I say, "I'm sure you have lots of fun, but sleeping on the ground in a tent is not my idea of a good time."

It would fit. FW is huge. My dad and I bike from Wilderness Lodge over to there in the summer. There's more room to ride there than over at the Epcot resorts. For their busses, they have a main bus stop and then they have different stops around the resort, so you get off at the main stop and then wait and another bus comes to take you to your area (Saratoga Springs does the same thing). I'm sure they will figure out how to make it fit.

I'll remember this next time I try to put my shoes on the wrong feet. :geek:

I saw a six or seven year old girl with her rainboots on the wrong feet today. 3 adults with her, they didn't notice?
By that age one would think the brain would have developed enough to realize the boots don't feel good.

They would probably have to put it all in a separate area away from the campgrounds rather than meshing it in. I'm not sure why they are doing it at Fort Wilderness when they already have Wilderness Lodge, not to mention that all the monorail resorts have/are getting DVC areas. They are probably better off building it as its own resort

I got stuck working on Monday (Family Day), so I decided to roast my turkey today.
My house smells glorious.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, corn, and Pillsbury crescent rolls for everybody else
.
Turkey and salad for me. Maybe one mouthful of stuffing.

Are you sure y'all are Canadian? That sounds PRETTY darn "'Murican" to me...? :cyclops:

BTW, congrats on the hockey win!!! For all the teasin', I'm definitely rootin' for y'all for the gold!!! :)

I wrestle with my Dad's though process still. Remember my Dad??? and my story of while we were driving down to Florida stopped in at WDW in the Spring after it had opened. Bought 2 day ticket booklets, we rode the carousel and Small World twice and he wanted to head out of there 'cause he wanted to get to Hollywood before dusk. o_O Sis and I were so unhappy. We'd spend 4-6 weeks in Florida every spring. Pool/Beach and that was about it. Torture as my sister and I aged. Our stuff was at home with our friends. Lunch at Lum's and dinner at Morrisons. We were always happy to go back to school mid April. That ended when my Mom returned to teaching. Amen.

Galena was pretty much the same though at least we had some stuff there. My Dad liked to get away from his busy business and be somewhere were there were no interruptions to peace and quiet. Nothing to distract. Even the few times we took him and my Mom to Disney with us he was always attempting to thwart the plans saying things to my kids in the parks like, you done all this already, want to go back to the hotel and swim? :banghead: We actually stopped taking him. Mom, she can still come.

The ranch would have to be moved and some other amenities

Overall site plan with DVC building in red and pools in blue. Note guest parking and Pioneer Hall to the right.

No matter where they put it it will alter the feel of the area and change the night and day time feel of the area. You can't put that many high end resort guests and mix it with tents, cabins and motor homes and not have them class.

The trick is to cheat and bring an aero bed and a lot of pillows. We were laughed at, but we were also very comfy in that tent.

The trick is to take a camper and get an electrical site. There are modern amenities, but it's minimal.

I lived in my tent for a few months when I first moved to AZ. I invested in a piece of 4" foam and was very comfy. It later became my guest bed when I moved into a real place.
