As much as we look like Americans, speak like Americans, eat, drink, drive and live like Americans - Canadians really are very different.
We love our country as much as you do, but we are quietly patriotic.
We are just as proud as you, but in a self-effacing kind of way.
We are generally modest and humble.
We have, however, a fragile ego. We live next door to the behemoth that it the USA.
We love you guys, we really do (and most of us know that Canada only exists because of the protection of the US) but we are like the much younger sibling, living in your shadow - admiring you, but secretly hoping you fall on your butt once in a while. And when you do stumble, we will be the first ones to run in and help you up.
But hockey ... is another story altogether. This, WE NEED TO WIN. It's personal to us. Kick our a$$ in any sport you want, and generally we don't care. Kick our a$$ in hockey, and the nation collectively mourns.
Hockey is our apple pie, American eagle, Uncle Sam, and July 4th all rolled into one. If you're not Canadian, you just won't get it.
Woof!!!
That is some serious stuff, right there...!!!
Just a suggestion, but, y'all may wanna' diversify, a bit.
