As much as we look like Americans, speak like Americans, eat, drink, drive and live like Americans - Canadians really are very different.

We love our country as much as you do, but we are quietly patriotic.
We are just as proud as you, but in a self-effacing kind of way.
We are generally modest and humble.
We have, however, a fragile ego. We live next door to the behemoth that it the USA.
We love you guys, we really do (and most of us know that Canada only exists because of the protection of the US) but we are like the much younger sibling, living in your shadow - admiring you, but secretly hoping you fall on your butt once in a while. And when you do stumble, we will be the first ones to run in and help you up.

But hockey ... is another story altogether. This, WE NEED TO WIN. It's personal to us. Kick our a$$ in any sport you want, and generally we don't care. Kick our a$$ in hockey, and the nation collectively mourns.

Hockey is our apple pie, American eagle, Uncle Sam, and July 4th all rolled into one. If you're not Canadian, you just won't get it.

Woof!!!
That is some serious stuff, right there...!!!
Just a suggestion, but, y'all may wanna' diversify, a bit. :D ;) :)

Unrelated, but. This is the first time I've seen Fort Wilderness being advertised. Usually its one of the deluxe resorts, DL, or Universal on this page... but this time it's FW. Interesting.

Around 2010 DVC Plans for Ft. Wilderness wear leaked, late last year or early this year Ft. Wilderness drawings were leaked for DVCs. Maybe they are trying to get guests to go stay there or at least consider so when whenever they decide to go ahead with the DVC more guests are familiar with Ft. Wilderness.

I saw where they are planning on placing it, it looks nice. I wouldn't mind staying there when built. Not staying in a cabin, tent or camper though. My vacation ideals are resort rooms and restaurants, lounges, pools.

I believe the USA and Canada are very much the same in most regards, except for the little area that wants to speak
French. (It was a daily pain in my tookus to call Montreal daily for ship updates in my old career. *sigh*)
We are too very patriotic, unfortunately you see the knuckleheads on the news more than your see the average Americans way of life. When we are threatened we rally together, even our political divides get put aside for a while, when there are natural disasters it is amazing how much the Average American donates in relief funds. Canada to me is a more peaceful place like some of our less congested states.

Today I'm sure your pleased with the outcome of Hockey, my son is in mourning. I grew up watching hockey with my Dad, my DH & DS are loyal Blackhawk fans, they have had some good years as of late, we know how to celebrate their Stanley Cups. My son is due up here in late March, a few days ago the UPS man delivered an envelope addressed to my son. I opened it (he doesn't live here much) and inside are Blackhawk tickets via Stubhub.
I know baseball is our national pass time but I really wonder about that, I don't see the loyalty to the final games that I see to football and the Superbowl.

And we appreciate you guys more than you know. I was old enough to remember the Canadian Caper where the Canadians put themselves at risk to sneak some of our diplomats out of Iran. It was a glimmer of hope for the others when these Americans were able to come home because of the Canadians. It is history that remains stuck in my head.

They will be razing all of River Country and putting the buildings in.

I've been to Galena a couple times, and have a friend from there. I think my uncle grew up there, but I'm not 100% sure. My cousin used to work at their McDonalds when he was in high school.

It is such a pretty place. Many from around here have summer homes there, we divide between Galena, WI and Michigan for our retreat homes. If I remember correctly, as it has been a while, it is only about a half hour between you and Galena???? Dang they have some good restaurant in Galena.

Well they still have Discovery Island! They could do some adventure vacationing out there. I'm surprised Disney recycled that name at Animal Kingdom.

Yeah, about 30 minutes. I haven't been there in a long time, though.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I got stuck working on Monday (Family Day), so I decided to roast my turkey today.
My house smells glorious.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, corn, and Pillsbury crescent rolls for everybody else.
Turkey and salad for me. Maybe one mouthful of stuffing.

I'll be over in a few minutes. :hungry: (In reality I'm having fish fingers and Kraft dinner...or to Americans, mac and cheese.)

I hope they evict the vultures that live there first! Egads!

It's not a vacation if there are no restrooms, beds, and air conditioning. Sorry. I guess I'm just stuck up like that.

I recall seeing those plans... The whole complex looked absolutely HUGE. I've never been to FW so I'm not sure how it would fit in.
