I think it is helpful tool for those situations, but the sending out one all the way to the coast like Lancaster did wont help. We are hours away, there is nothing for us to see. All they did was compel people to figure out how to turn those alerts off.I heard nothing of this, so this is my first startling. My DD was in the room and we had stereo 'cause obviously hers went off too. Thinking on a whole it is a good idea. I just imagine all the iPhones going off in schools, hospitals, funerals, movie theaters...the endless places, the very reason why my phone is on silent.
