Yeah my kids went the chorus route too and they were competitive swimmers too. I play the piano too as did my DD and she is a fairly good guitarist too. My DS growing up had the attention span of a gnat so we skipped artsy things with him and he played all sorts of sports.
Yeah, my middle school required art and a music course. I was in orchestra in 6th grade and had art. We figured out part way through the year that I wasn't doing well in that class health-wise. I believe I am the only student who was able to double up on music ever. The then-principal, who had been there for 20 years, never allowed it, and the principal now doesn't allow it. I went back and she told me I'm still the only one who got permission to do that. So in seventh grade I started chorus in addition to orchestra. I thought I could carry a tune but otherwise wasn't that talented (not like my mom, who would have done something with singing had her mother not pulled the money for college). I think I was wrong given two months later I was in All-county chorus (Honors chorus made up of auditioned singers from all over the county), beating out students who had been taking chorus since sixth grade. Full credit goes to my teacher for that.`No idea why I thought I could do it; other than that I am crazy.

My brother has autism, and like many people with autism, he has perfect pitch. One day I swear he'll sit down to the piano and be completely amazing. He's already figured out how to play "A Pirate's Life for Me" just by listening to me play it. He just doesn't have the attention span right now. It's a shame because he has to have double math and double reading right now so he won't take music until next year. Which is fine since his voice is beginning to crack

I came home from school today to find 26 turkeys on my driveway. I calmly got out of the car and then ran at them screaming. Thats the first time I have see 26 turkeys flying at once. What I find interesting is that most people don't think turkeys can fly more than ten feet. I made them fly over 200 yards away, flying at least 50 feet in the air

"Uncle Orville", turkeys, for the first time ever, flying 200 yards at 50 feet off the ground...
There's a whole Wright brothers cross-reference, tie-in thing goin' on here, isn't there.....? o_O ;)

I used to love home designs and floor plans and what not. At one point I was thinking about going into real estate as a career, but then I came to my senses and realized I just like looking at different homes.

Yes. I believe it was Clint Eastwood in Magnum Force who once said... "A man's got to know his limitations". ;)

Grandma and pulling money for college, oy. A story there I bet. Some kids with Autism just flat out amaze me and what is hidden under the surface. How old is he? A friend of mine, one of his twins is Autistic, he is beyond brilliant, he should be at Harvard or Yale, he got in as did his twin, he just couldn't do the group dorm living thing, so he is commuting to a University around here.
