Yep that would be like our TV personalities, they do love to mock. Many do not have "filters" and say things that just should be said and then we wonder why the world lumps all of us together and label us as Ugly American's.

Well, heck... it's mostly done in a light hearted way and is just a reflection of different cultures. Want to be shocked you should hear what Canadians think about us. It would make "oot and aboot" seem really minor. A good sense of humor and ability to laugh at ourselves goes a long way toward a happy life.

Well for staying in a hotel your best bet in NJ is Atlantic City, but if you have ever been there before you know that leaving the boardwalk area at night is a terrible idea. But they have nice rooms, nightlife, and you can gamble.

Around here people do beach rentals. Point Pleasant has a lot of motels, many of which are well maintained. But the rentals are the way to go around here and I'm not renting from those services so I have no idea who you contact for those. Wildwood and Point are the best if you want the Jersey Shore amusement atmosphere. Point is the cleaner one too. Seaside has that also, but the place is under a voodoo curse as punishment for that reality show. One pier collapsed by a hurricane and the next year the other one is on fire. This year I expect frogs and locusts.

I haven't done Hilton Head in a long time, but my friend goes every year and they love it down there. I think his relative has a time share there.

I think I've posted this around here somewhere before, but, I spent a week in Seaside Heights with some buddies in a rental back in the summer of '81. We did grain alcohol shots in the mornin' before headin' to the beach. Then it was drinkin' games in the afternoon before we went out to drink at the clubs for the rest of the night. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I remember seein' a Stones cover band called Sticky Fingers at some dive one night. It was pretty scary how much they looked, performed, and sounded like the real thing 'cause I also saw them at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in '81. Can't remember if that was before or after the Jersey Shore trip, though. "81-'84 are pretty much a blur, that way.

Just popping in for a minute. @PUSH my niece rented a car down here today so she can come and go as she pleases. The licence plate on it is from Wisconsin. We figure someone just got sick of the weather and rented it one-way with no intention of returning to WI.

Come here. The beaches are amazing! I promise. (has fingers crossed behind back)

We have over 600 miles of beaches and coastline here in Texas. :)
Oh, but, there flat and ugly and smelly and in summertime the ocean feels like bath water. :depressed:

I'm gonna' end up sleepin' with the catfish, yet... :cautious:

That's what 99% of Wisconsinites want right now. I envy whoever's car that was.

And here's some more Wisconsin history for you folks. On the exact same day as the Chicago Fire, there was the Peshtigo Fire. It was far worse than the Chicago Fire, but nobody knew about it because Chicago took priority. I've been to Peshtigo and toured the museum there. Kind of neat, nothing to add to your bucket list, though.

Here's a map of the fires from that day.

The fire over northern Michigan was caused because of the Peshtigo Fire. Somehow the wind carried it across Lake Michigan. If you ask me, it was sorcery.

Okay, so now I'm just looking up random lakes in Wisconsin, and look what I found!

On Lake Mendota in Madison, just down the road from the capital building, some people built the top of the Statue of Liberty to make it look like The Day After Tomorrow. :D

I agree...it was sorcery....kinda hard for a hot ember to jump across Lake Michigan.

I haven't set foot in that town since senior prom. The crowds there were getting a little too close to the Joisey stereotype to deal with. I wanted to go back last year to see the submerged roller coaster, but didn't get a chance.
