My beach is $70 for a season pass. I used to get 4 to accommodate guests, but I didn't use the extras enough last summer so people can pay the $10 daily rate themselves now. I keep having to do it when I go to their beaches.

And parking usually costs money too. My town has some pay lots that I have never needed to look at so idk what they cost. There is enough free street parking you don't need to. The next town with the amusement rides and a drinking beach charges like $20 at least to park and you have to pay since street parking you need a permit.

What beach do you go to? I'm looking for a nice one to spend a week at this summer. If I don't see ocean this year I might lose my mind...and at this point I'll settle for Jersey shore or NY..as long as it's not Lake Erie (ugh, sorry, no offense to anyone...but c'mon. There's no comparison). Any tips or recommendations would be very helpful!

Just shoveled, and it wasn't fun. Tomorrow the high is back up to 41, so I'm expecting a wet, sloppy, slushy mess.

It's been sunshiny bright all day today which has only caused the crap to melt slightly. The only problem is it's melting off roofs but freezing right under on the sidewalks and in my case, the driveway. There's not a bag of salt to be found in the entire city. I went to five stores and three gas stations and even tried the pet store (willing to settle for pet friendly salt if it keeps my steps from being a sheet of ice for the mailman) and no one has any. The city is also extremely low on their salt reserves... This will make the impending ice storm tonight and tomorrow a lot of fun.

I decided to temporarily move the mailbox from the front door to the bottom of the steps since I can't find salt. I'm not gonna let the mailman struggle on my steps, that's just not right. I used plastic ties it secure it to the banister. It looks beyond tacky. I don't care.

If I wreck on the way to work do I still have to go in? :/

I really like Hilton Head Island, SC. Disney has a place there where we use our points, but there are other hotels there too. Really really nice beach. We don't even go to Ocean City, MD or Virginia Beach anymore because that one is so much better. Really wide beach, waves are usually pretty gentle, though you can boogie board, depending on the day. Water is warm (80 degrees, same as a Disney pool) so you can hang out in the water. If you choose to fly and rent a car, they offer rental umbrellas (at least at Palmeto Dunes). Definitely worth at least checking out.

Well for staying in a hotel your best bet in NJ is Atlantic City, but if you have ever been there before you know that leaving the boardwalk area at night is a terrible idea. But they have nice rooms, nightlife, and you can gamble.

Around here people do beach rentals. Point Pleasant has a lot of motels, many of which are well maintained. But the rentals are the way to go around here and I'm not renting from those services so I have no idea who you contact for those. Wildwood and Point are the best if you want the Jersey Shore amusement atmosphere. Point is the cleaner one too. Seaside has that also, but the place is under a voodoo curse as punishment for that reality show. One pier collapsed by a hurricane and the next year the other one is on fire. This year I expect frogs and locusts.

I haven't done Hilton Head in a long time, but my friend goes every year and they love it down there. I think his relative has a time share there.

So I got the frozen "deluxe" soundtrack (FYI, 53 tracks, it's longer than the movie is!) and I don't think anyone will ever take me seriously again. There's officially more disney music on my iPad than adult stuff. Except rusted root, lots of rusted root.

...I was listening to spectromagic last night and wishing I would have seen the parade IRL just once. :( the music is fab!

Doesn't Pittsburgh have good beaches? It's in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

I can uhh... Take a pic of them for you tomorrow. They're.... Great. Black tar like sand, debris, the occasional dead animal.

I really like how the highlight of Pittsburgh is viewing downtown from mt. Washington... Where you can clearly see the brown river meeting the green river and slurring together to form The Great Brown Streak known as the Ohio. Most every photo taken here has been photoshopped to cover this....

This is the extent of Wisconsin beaches (unless you go to the Great Lakes). Don't worry, this is just a portion of the beach. A bit to the right you can actually get into the water without go through plants.
