That's actually the problem. The body no longer cooperates! The depiction of older people running, playing ball games etc. are not indicative of the reality that I see. My mind, to me, still feels like when I was a teenager, but the rest of me cannot keep up. A combination of aging, accidents and expectations from others forces reality on you. It's not awful, just frustrating sometimes. For example, in a time that just doesn't seem very long ago, I was always walking way ahead, now they have to wait for me. That frustrates and embarrasses me. I know it shouldn't but, it does. I have been fortunate that I haven't lost my strength, but because of my age, if something needs to be lifted or moved, volunteers come out of the wall to "do it for me". On one level, it's cool, but, on another it makes one feel a little helpless.
I go to Disney solo. That is no longer a problem as far as that status is concerned, but, you would be amazed at the looks I get when someone asks me what I do there. I say, well, let's see... I rode Rocking RC, or ToT or Mission: Space and I have actually been asked if I didn't think I was a little too old for those rides. It, at some point, starts to affect just how we look at ourselves. Maybe we are too old. So far, I have been able to say, to hell with them, I will do what I like for as long as I can. And I always remember those words my Mom aimed at my Dad.. "You will have an eternity to rest... live while you can".![]()
Hey, I know the meaning of joie de vivre and 12 other fancy French words. Most of which will get my face slapped in respectable company. With regard to the sentence I highlighted in red above: Anyone who asks you an idiotic question like that, is void of any joie de vivre. Others may just be jealous of your free spirit. Ignore all of them. You enjoy your fun, and don't change a thing. I'm an adult, and I go on all the rides and have just as much fun as any kid. As a matter of fact, I can proudly state that I think I'm the biggest kid in the park!

Ralph Lauren was the designer, and usually, I like love his designs (never over=the-top, just classy). However, the large designs and bold colors were a turn-off for me. I didn't mind the sweater style being featured, it was just the larger-scale, bright designs that were disappointing.
