Where else do you vacation?

Just curious--with all of the Disney holics on these boards, I am wondering this...Does anyone go anywhere else on vacation? If so, where do you like to go? I know that nothing can come close to the magic of Disney, but where else do you go?

We usually spend a week in the mountains, and also a week at the beach. We spend shorter trips elsewhere; WDW, Ottawa (this year) New England, Bahamas, etc in past years.

We do little trips to visit nearby areas for the weekend...usually places like Louisville KY, Chicago Il, Branson MO.,....but we are saving for our ultimate vacation which will include stops in England, Scotland & Jersey Chanel Island. (as soon as the youngest is old enough to appreciate it).

We love to cruise (see sig. for details :D) Royal Caribbean is our personal favorite... if you ever want an extrodinary vacation - away from Disney - The RCCL Voyager Fleet is incredible... they're the one's with the rock climbing walls, ice skating rink, and tons more... very relaxing - yet tons to do... It's our favorite way to see the world - many countries all in one vacation - without ever having to repack... :D

This June I'm going to Alaska on a cruise. This will be my second trip to Alaska. I love to cruise too and next year I'm thinking of going on a cruise to Hawaii.

I also love to vacation right where I live... there's so much to do that sometimes DH and I will take a long weekend - make reservations at a swanky ;) hotel downtown on the Battery and spend the weekend touring our home town...

My family lives in Florida so usually when we go on vacation we go to Florida. And I never miss a chance to visit Disney when I'm there :D This year we're going to California though. Gotta give Disneyland some love too :D

We may take a trip to Mexico this year. ( I try to visit different places since I am a full service travel agent) I want to try one of the all inclusive resorts in Riviera Maya.
It's hard for me to get away....perhaps towards the end of this year a cruise. (I'm also a cruise specialist)

For Beach Vacations we head to Long Beach Island, New Jersey, it's a nice place.

We go to LBI as well. We have not gone in the past 2 years though. We usually stay in Beach Haven on LBI in the early Fall when we do go.

For the past 2 years we have gone up to Maine. My sister has a vacation home on Great Diamond Island which is an Island off the coast of Portland, Maine. Not much to do there (one restaurant, one general store, no cars) so we just hang out, eat drink and play games.

For as much as we Ohioans complain about our state, there are actually some nice and interesting places to go in Ohio. Usually my family spends at least a long weekend every summer going somewhere in the state. Other places I've been: Italy(the country, not the pavilion), Canada, Alaska, Las Vegas, various New England states, and Washington D.C. several times.

Well before I got married and I was still under my parent's roof we went everywhere (they have a time share in Kissimee and trade it to go all over the place). We'd usually take several vacations per year. One to Disney (of course), then another one that they'd use the time share for and we'd go somewhere like Cape Cod or the Poconos or whatever, and then the last vacation of the year would usually be a 1 week Royal Caribbean cruise.

Since I've been married we pretty much stick to Disney world. For me it's just not worth driving 10+ hours in the car with 2 toddlers to go anywhere else. When they are a little older we'll probably do more cruises and stuff like that. We also live only 2 1/2 hours from Myrtle Beach so that's always good for a quick last minute weekend trip if we're bored.

I didn't know there was anyplace else! (Just kidding!)
But seriously, since my first trip to WDW in 1997, I haven't gotten on an airplane unless it was to go see Mickey! What can I say- I love the Mouse! :D
We live in New England so if we go anywhere else it's usually not too far - mostly short trips to NH (to visit Mom) or NY (to visit Dad). We also love Cape Cod in the summer! :)

I am fortunate enough to live on the barrier island off of New Jersey, so my entire time from May through mid September is a vacation on the beach and bay. I work at a fish market so I meet vacationers with kids my age, and we hang out at the beach all the time or I'll do a lot of bay sports (both recreational games and fishing/clamming/crabbing) with my family. We live outside, relaxing and working, and enjoying our surroundings. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the beach and the bay (both of which we have views from our house) and we are also situated right next to Island Beach State Park which has a slew of recreational opportunities. I am so fortunate to live at a vacation destination that is this relaxing.

We will go for other vacations to Busch Gardens and Williamsburg (great area) and also to New Hampshire and climb Mt Washington! I highly reccommend the latter choice; it is beautiful there, the hike is great, and the feeling of accomplishment and success at the end is tremendous. And there are lots of other outdoorsish activities to do. We also go to the Outerbanks on occassion. Everything on the East Coast.

But yeah, we don't choose to go to other places because our vacation is at home during the warmer months.
