Where do you leave the mousekeeping tip?

I have left my mousekeeping tip in different places before and have come back to the room later in the day to find that money sitting on the dresser. Like they thought I dropped it on accident.

So WHERE is the best place to leave your daily tip? I don't recall seeing an envelope or a special dish. Do you leave a note with it?

I dont always remember to bring the envelope so sometimes I find paper and write Mousekeeping on it and fold it up and put money in it.

We actually prepare our Mousekeeping tips before we even leave home. I do up an envelope for each night that we are going to be staying so 8 nights means 8 envelopes. I do up a labels that say "Mousekeeping" for each envelope and decorate them with Disney stickers. I put in the tip for each night, seal it and pack it in my carry on then when I get to my hotel, I put the envelopes in our safe. Then each night before we go to bed, we pull out one envelope and leave it in the sink area near where the Mousekeeper has left her card. That way we don't forget when we're trying to get out of the room in the morning. When we come back each night the envelope is gone.

You need to make sure that you indicate somehow that the money is intended for mousekeeping otherwise they won't take it. We used to just leave it under their name card before I started doing envelopes.

That is exactly what we did last time too. I found some great stickers at The Dollar Tree!

We always leave it around the sink area. They usually leave you a little tent card that has your mousekeepers name on it. We put the card on top of the money.

That's exactly what we used to do. We switched to the prepared in advance envelopes so that we weren't scrambling to put together the tip when we really just wanted to crash.:D

I had my girls decorate the mousekeeping tip envelopes with Disney stickers before we left. They had fun doing it and was one less thing I had to do before leaving.

Mousekeeping is a non tipped position at WDW.
They are union employees that make appox 12-13.00 per hour, or more.
Actually, it is a good job to have at the "world" some will say, MUCH better than a basic C.M.
And, they have opportunities to make more through incentives.
This was a topic on a pod cast from another site.
the mousekeepers dont even keep the tip (or arent supposed to).:ROFLOL: Note to: IRS
I beleive all the tips they do get is supposed to go into a "pizza fund" silly, but im pretty sure thats where they go.
but in any case, Tipping the mousekeeper is not expected.

If this is the case, then maybe this will be one expense we can cut out. If they don't keep the tips, then no sense in me adding to their "pizza fund".

*I* like to steal their wallets when they're not looking, then spend it on McDonald's for MEEEEEEEEE :sohappy: I got the idea once whilst putting out a campfire! And, like you, I'm a stranger on the internet, so I know what I'm talking about and there's no incentive to lie!

Incidentally, there are some people who believe you should leave a small tip every single day of your stay rather than one big tip at the end, because otherwise, the CM doing most of the upkeep to your room might be out the day you check out, and a new CM gets paid for all the hard work of the other. I'd assume there are some procedures in place, like a tip pool that's then dispersed based on hours worked or something, but just in case, SOME people think that's a good idea to consider....

But me and MY NEW BEST FRIEND ALECSHAWN have a name for those kinds of people...
SUCKERS!!!

The money WE save not tipping is money we can spend buying air mattresses to sneak more people into our room than allowed by law! Oh, AND more salty snacks at WalMart!
