Where do you leave the mousekeeping tip?

I have left my mousekeeping tip in different places before and have come back to the room later in the day to find that money sitting on the dresser. Like they thought I dropped it on accident.

So WHERE is the best place to leave your daily tip? I don't recall seeing an envelope or a special dish. Do you leave a note with it?

Heading for the great escape.
An admirable stand you take. Just make sure you look twice at that drinking glass before you sip. Better sniff the sheets too. Of course if you stiffed the skycap at the airport too, you probably don't have to worry about what the maid does to your clothes since your luggage is probably lost somewhere on the other side of the country.

Are you saying they practice extortion to get their tips?

sorry, i just think theres a limit as to who should get tipped. you can't possibly tip everyone that does a service for you, and people that take jobs that don't pay enough should get better jobs.
the wife and I work 4 jobs to pay for what we want.

now there's an interesting concept - make sacrifices and work to get what you want in life.

Now THAT is what the American Dream is all about. A man and his wife ACHEIVING their goals by work and saving.
NOT complaining about the price od WDW.
Excellent post!
Sadly, all too many folks CHOOSE the easy way out, the way of whining.

Mousekeeping is a non tipped position at WDW.
They are union employees that make appox 12-13.00 per hour, or more.
Actually, it is a good job to have at the "world" some will say, MUCH better than a basic C.M.
And, they have opportunities to make more through incentives.
This was a topic on a pod cast from another site.
the mousekeepers dont even keep the tip (or arent supposed to).:ROFLOL: Note to: IRS
I beleive all the tips they do get is supposed to go into a "pizza fund" silly, but im pretty sure thats where they go.
but in any case, Tipping the mousekeeper is not expected.

Apparently anyone who works in the service industry can't achieve their goals if they have no tips to save.:lookaroun

There is absolutely no dispute that mousekeeping is a non tipped position.
It simply isnt.
I never said it wasn't. "Service" does not necessarily mean a tipped position. There are many non-tipped positions that still get a little extra to help out. The maintenance guy in my building. The postal worker, UPS guy, Garbage Man, water delivery guy, etc. I tip them at Christmas. It's a matter of showing some appreciation. If you choose not to, fine. It's just the way I was raised. As you stated in another post, "Money talks".

Yeah but they make UP TO $12.54 an hour! That's over 500 bucks a week! If you have no loved one, you're making more than 2.5x the poverty level! If you have ONE dependent? Still almost TWICE the poverty level! 2 dependents? Around 50 percent higher than the poverty level! 3 dependents? OK, you're still technically not poor, but you only have a little bit of wiggle room for stuff like clothes for your children and bumpups to moderate resorts. So, TWO kids, max, unless your spouse works, and keep it in your pants, and YOU my Mousekeeping friend, are living large! Even if those tips go to some kind of pizza fund, you refuse that pizza! If they try to make you eat the pizza, stuff it in your cheeks then spit it out when they're not looking! It's what alecshawn WANTS you to do! He pretends to be a firefighter and I pretend to be an astronaut! We gots da power of imagination, mofos! Figment poos himself when we come to town!

Most of the time I keep it in my pocket

As Pumbas said, in the DVC, mousekeeping is a concept that is not practiced. A basket of towels and sheets on my doorstep on day 4 will do nicely - thank you very much

In situations where I am in a serviced room, I usualy tip at the end of the stay. I know, I know, the "worng" person may get it. Honestly I am lucky I have cash on me at all to leave. Having denominations small enough to leave every day is just something I never seem to have.

thanks slappy, I had no idea they made more than the union employees at my hospital start out at. I'll definitely have to adjust my tipping for the next trip.

God, this is a great thread - I had to go and make a cup of coffee half way through! I can't believe people get so worked up over a couple of dollars a day - which, like it or not, puts a smile on someones face :ROFLOL:

I typically do not tip everyday....................I try to leave a tip on my last day. BUT all I've been hearing lately is "don't forget to tip everyday". I think I will just stay with my normal routine and tip on the last day.

And I won't be drinking out of the glasses in the room. I'll buy a refillable mug to use everyday!:p

To answer the original question, I put our tip in an envelope marked for Mousekeeping and leave one every day before we head out to the parks. We always leave the envelope in front of the coffee pot.

Yes...I tip Housekeepers..and I tip them a LOT.

No tip= clean room.

Small tip=VERY clean room w/extra towels and an occasional towel animal.

Large tip= above and beyond service. Examples: I collect coasters and when I tip well, somehow stacks of 30 or more Mickey Mouse coasters magically show up on my nightstand. Sometimes bath robes that are supposed to reserved for concierge level guests mysteriously appear out of no where in our standard room closets. Candy, cakes, fruit baskets, autographed pictures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and even Disney pins have somehow showed up in our room...without us even asking for any of it.

I find that if you are nice to people, they usually respond in kind.:animwink:

My take is that if you leave it on the last day, then they know its for them, and not just some change left around.

I understand the whole tip every day thing, it just never seems to happen for me.
