Where do Disneyphiles work?

Currently a personal banker at the countries 2nd largest bank. Although my manager would argue I am self employed as a Disney website viewer.

I spent most of my early life in a kitchen as pizza maker, line cook, chef, manager.

Dream job is to be a master sommelier, or own my own cheese shop.

Neither is going to happen anytime soon.

DH works for one of the Big 3 here in the metro Detroit area, and I am a nephrology nurse working at a large hospital in downtown Detroit.
We are both known as the Disney nerds with all of our friends and colleagues, which is fine by us. :)

I'm BBDO and JWT alum.... as an art director and associate creative director ;) I left advertising when they did layoffs @ JWT, and hopped over to aerospace/defense earning 2x what I earned at JWT and with less than half of the responsibility.

Small world.

Which branch of BBDO and JWT did you work for? ... I worked for both the NY and Detroit offices of BBDO, as well as Campbell-Ewald, Y & R, and Leo Burnett. I left Art Direction when they had a mass layoff at BBDO Detroit.
I had to jump around a lot to get the raises, but still work in the Ad world, freelance producing (make a much better salary) plus I do not have to report back to the same client daily, or worry about the long hours and weekends trying to pitch a new client.

I just finished a job for Northrop Grumman in D.C., incredible company, very cool tech.

Legal Counselor and Mediator for a regional housing authority. My coworkers shamelessly make fun of my Disney obsession even though they haven't been to the World. My DH is an IT specialist for a publishing company.

My dream retirement plan is moving to FL and playing the Fairy Godmother for parades...lol.

I'm a web designer / developer, which means I am on the Internet pretty much all the time, which is a pretty dangerous thing (in terms of productivity) when you're a Disney park freak!

I've been going to the parks for over 30 years (since before I was 2), so you can imagine how hard it is for me to relate to someone my age who has never been and/or has no desire to go!

I worked both in Puerto Rico. I miss advertising, a LOT. I miss the fringe benefits (Free booze!) and traveling (due to the region, we'd fly a lot)... but I don't miss the paychecks.

Aerospace is amazing. If I see a piece of software or hardware that can make my job easier or improve my art quality I usually get it within 48 hours of requesting (24 hours to ship to home office, 24 more to forward it to my site). They sent me to the HOW Conference last year on the company dime, and possibly this year (it'll be a last minute booking). It's kind of fun being the only creative in the building.

As I read these boards, I always find myself wondering where everyone works. In other words, what vocations draw people with Disney obsessions? Or do we independently pick our professions regardless of our obsessions? I've had people tell me their dentist always wears Mickey Mouse...their music minister at church...the random guy in the office. So....where do you work? I know these boards are fairly anonymous, but just give us an idea of your profession...not the exact place.

I'll go first...graduate student, PhD program, political science. You can look at the shirt in my Avatar to figure out where I study. And I just happen to be the only Disneyphile in the entire political science department. It's so lonely out there...

This Disney guy is a Flight Attendant. I love talking to the people to or from Orlando, to find out where they are staying/stayed, what their favorite ride was/is, how long they were/are there for...every time I land in Orlando and have to leave right away, a little part of me wants to bail out and stay!!! I even find myself running to the parks on layovers sometimes....and if I can't go to the park...I get a mini Disney fix by visiting the two Disney stores at MCO International!!!

The only government agency no Canadian ever wants to admit they work for is CRA.

When I worked for the IRS (yes they outsource to Canada. . .jj :ROFLOL:)
that was my response. "I work for the government"

Actually, I work as an Analyst at the Communications Security Establishment, but my sister works for CRA and denies it regularly!

Special Events Director at a local college...my Disney obsession is a running joke in our department. Each time we have a staff meeting, we start out with "How many days until your next trip!"...they all think I'm nuts!

Great thread! I'm surprised that there are not more people from south Louisiana, since lots of locals head to the World during Mardi Gras. Anyway, I'm a CPA and have my own practice.

Accounts Payable Clerk, Missouri Department of Corrections. Yup, I do bookkeeping for parole officers. (Or, as one of my performer friends expressed it, I am a "...hippie working for The Man.")

I'd look into being a bookkeeper for the Disney organization, but there isn't, to the best of my knowledge, a way to do that and remain in Missouri. Oh, well. A guy can dream ...

Hiya! I love this thread! How cool to see all of the career differences, while all being united in our love for WDW.

I'm a Special Education Teacher for a High School in a suburb of Chicago.

Thanks, all, for posting. :)

My parents once drove all the way from Nashville, TN to Prince Edward Island for vacation. That's a lllloooooong drive. But I have to say, being an Anne of Green Gables fan, I've always wanted to visit. Maybe I'll get to go sometime!

First thing I thought of, too!! Love Anne of Green Gables! It's beautiful in the movies!
