When will Epcot get Capt EO back?

It doesn't matter, if you dare project that 24 year old reel of celluloid on a large surface his corpse will rise from the grave and grope your children!

Seriously people, does EO coming back show that Disney is encouraging pedophilia? No! Not only is MJ his old black self in the movie (before the public had a negative opinion of him) there is nothing in the movie which implies or shows this kind of behaviour. Those looking for a pedo will see one on the screen and those who don't will not. If you didn't want to see it you would't have too.

I don't like the idea of a actor in his 20s dating an underage teen, getting drunk, abusing drugs, behavhing poorly on the set etc. but former Disney star Tommy Kirk did all those things. Should I stop watching Swiss Family Robinson or Old Yeller? No, because those films as a whole do not relate or promote such things and are great pieces of entertiament regardless of what a star did off screen. I'm not saying EO is as good as Swiss but you get the idea.

Making a counter argument that EO is dated and is a step backward or could be more than "temporary" is reasonable because there is logic in that argument. The "I think MJ was creepy/inapporpriate" is not.

Good post! If people don't want to see it they don't have to.

I agree that HISTA is getting old and tiresome, but replace it with something new and exciting, do not bring back Captain EO.. that show was bad enough when it finally went out no need for the torture.

It's only temporary. You won't believe what is rumoured to replace Captain EO after it's full run.

Please tell me your tip of the day isn't related to a situation you've come across in your capacity as a lawman. :hurl: :lookaroun

I've seen lots of things in 26+ years in this job, but a family forum's not really the place to discuss them. :lookaroun

It could be a hit in DL because most people that go there are locals so they have to constantly change things to keep them coming back.

Most people in WDW are on vacation and it wont cause more people to come on vacation. It is a different crowd and won't have the same affect in WDW.

You are right that it will not cause more people to come on vacation to WDW, but it would cause a lot of locals to come to Epcot for a day. Heck, it could even get more people into Epcot and into JII.

So if Epcot does get Captain EO, it will be a step backwards.

If it is celebrated here it will only strengthen the arguement that fans only care about what was in the past.

I don't think you could get any more opposed to Epcot's ideals than bringing back a bad sci-fi fill from the 80s.

In terms of thematics? Sure, I agree.

In terms of a tribute to a entertainer, and a little piece of Park History coming back? Nope...Step forward. It's high time Disney pulled some REAL retro stuff out.:king:

Really Evan?

Explain to me how this fits every aspect of the Epcot dedication plaque that you so rigorously apply to The Seas?

A couple years ago, everyone was saying what a creep he was. Even when Characters in Flight was announced, people said Aerophile was Michael Jackson in the air.

He dies, and the world comes pouring out.

It leads to dumb things like putting this in FW.

DL has it right ,it belongs in TL! TL has become a Sci-Fi future. FW is SUPPOSED to be a realistic future. Within the grasp of reality. This movie is far from that.

Yes, Jake. :)

As I said, it's a TEMPORARY exception. It does not fit, I know that. The only good part of it, is the revival of a old part of EPCOT Center, just for old times sake, and as a tribute. If it stays, then, it's bad. But there for a few months? It's fine.

Can't compare it to the Seas. That's a planned out and permanent addition. This? Nope.

Is everything in Innovations exempt because it is temporary?

You can't pick and choose when to apply criteria.

Support for EO blosters the arguement that Epcot fans live in the past.

There is no reason for EO to return. Move forward, not back.

Hope you had a good trip!
